Black 1987 944 Turbo for sale £3,895
Located in N/E Herts

Black exterior and Black lather winged Sports seat interior which is in excellent condition.
Aircon works as do the infamous clock and the sunroof.



111,800 miles with comprehensive history file and MOT's to prove mileage.
Car currently owned by PCGB and TIPEC member ( since OCT 09) and is known at club events

Spec: Black 220 turbo with moifications to improve drive/response not to massively increase BHP.
Mods include induction kit , Bailey by pass valve and Promax Boost enhancer.
This car is not and has not been chipped and drives with minimal lag and superb response.

This car uses no noticeable ammount of oil or water ( unlike many I know) and drives superbly.

In last two months the car has had approx £1,000 of work including new clutch master and slave cylinders and a brand new Bosch Airflow Meter to cure rich running. I handed the car to Promax and said do what needs to be done so the car runs corectly which they did. Promax informed me that I have bought a good 944 turbo.

In answer to questions : Sunroof works , central locking works , rear wiper works , aircon works, boot release that I have never used until today works, amazingly clock works !


The car was owned prior to me by a TIPEC member for 8 years who maintained the car himself but was obviously very capable as he kept a log of everything he did and kept parts receips to prove. He even changed the cam and balance belts himself so must have been capable. The car is mechanically tip top for its age and mileage.

The bodywork is sound as are the sills but the paint does have various marks and scars and could do with detailing. If it were me , I would change or repair one front wing
( various paint damage/imperfections/repairs)

If you are looking for a straight unmolested and definitely not thrashed car with sound clutch engine gearbox etc then this one is basically that.

I have priced the car a bit below a pristine one as the paint isn't perfect but it still looks good on its cup one alloys and mechanically I believe it is as sound as you'll get.

I think thats too cheap even now. 5K is the price of a good turbo & 111K is a low mileage. Unless it has issues your giving it away. Your call. You need that to get a good Lupo!!! The scrappers will have it for that.

The car is mechanically very sound good brakes , clutch , engine gearbox . 1,000 recently spent including Promax getting it running spot on. I have been honest in the and I would replace one wing to make it far better not that it bothers me as its a 23 year old car that in my opinion shold have its 'charecter' . But you have to be honest re the value and I think 3500 is a fair price in light that someone could spend a thousand and make the car even better and do it as and when they have the cash.

My car has been seen at events and meets and recently did the Cotswold Rally and kept up with many a 911 on the twisties without missing a beat so no , not issues lol

If it flies out the door in a week you will be proven correct m8ee

Out of interest how much was the AFM? Shame to have to sell it when you just got it sorted Mas. Or are you after another Porsche???

I was quite lucky as I paid Promax for a Bosch refurbed unit ( the part is only 185 I think) but it appears they were short of them because the one I have been given is clearly a new one , Andrew at Promax spotted it and said this does happen sometimes. The bill with a very thorough fault finding / boost leak cure and final setup was about 500. And you wont get rid of me too easily I do of course have another car in my sights but until I have it mums the word

For the money its worth I could keep the 944 but I cant take 2 classic cars to events it would just be wastefull. ( plus I only have one 'useable' garage)

BTW got an AFM from a friend who is braking his car i then took the car after fitting to my local MOT tester who popped it on the emissions machine, as near as dammit as clean as a cat equipped car.
Was just about to shell cash out on an exchange unit......................Result !

I think is no more thn a fair price and I think most folk have sussed that is my way by now.
Most folk would have said 3995 nd took offerds etc I cant be doing with that kind of stuff , the price is what i want and thats my way. It defo needs one new black wing in time though not urgent as it isnt rust, and little tiny bits but is mechanically very good indeed. I have two folk I think will come at the weekend and one guy has asked if he can come tomorrow so hopefully it will stay in the forum community. I certainly wont be ashamed to have sold it to anyone thats for sure. Feel free to give me 4,000 thugh if you think its too cheep lol

Today in preperation for sale I popped over ( 90 mins each way) to Promax and asked them to check and if necessary replace the brake linings as I have been asked re their condition and genuinely couldnt have said. Promax found them to be around 50 percent and not needing replacement, I also had the idle checked and adjusted in preperation for a sale as I thought it a bit high and Andrew again re iterated that he thought my car was excellent value at 3500.

It's still sitting here waiting for someone to buy it though , we shall see over the weekend.

Latest update , a buyer has been apparently put off by my car being
' at the cheeper end of the market' TBH I am totally miffed at folks attitude to this as I am trying to sell a good car at a fair price. In the hope of making buyers feel more inclined the price is now £3895 . I hpe tght proves my car must be far better than it was when it was the same car at a lower price

You can't win Mas. Everyone wants it in there back yard. More than 20 miles they start to winge. Loads of the cars on pistonheads at that price are fit for scrap. Shame you can't get people to come & look at it. Been there myself. In truth I was offered 3.5K for my lux & turned it down. So maybe you should up the price a bit! Other option is sell it to a dealer. They will buy it for that.
