I spent yesterday putting my old interior back in.

Today the car wont start at all. The engine wont tick over whatsoever, all that happens is that the air circulation system kicks in, thats all you can hear.

The only 'material things which I actually did were to try and fix the boot release switch (in drivers footwell). I shorted the 3 different connections on the back of the switch a few times, caused a few sparks but that was it.

I also found one of the sunroof motor leads near the battery had come loose and reattached it.

I dont think I have done anything else which could have caused any starting issues.

Im currently charging the battery but I only charged it recently and dont think it will be this.

The clock isnt actually working. Does the clock normally display regardless of the key being in the ignition.

Im wondering if shorting the connections on the back of the boot release switch could have blown a fuse?? The Wipers and lights work fine when the key is in.

Any help much appreciated as always, im supposed to be at work tommorow but may not be able to unless I can get the car started.

It could be a fuse but more likely one of the wires you have fixed was disconnected for a reason.

Hopefully a fully charged battery will get the car started.

This is a bit weird so bear with me. The car now starts. Im not sure how on earth I managed to get it starting though

Things I did between it not starting and then starting..

1) Checked all fuses (the fog light fuse had blown so replaced it)
2) Removed the ignition relay and dme relay and cleaned the contacts with an eraser.

It then went and started. I have a feeling the problem was solmething to do with the immobilser though as the red immobiliser light was not flashing earlier today (it normally blinks every second or two). However after doing the two things above the immobiliser light was flickering again and sure enough, the engine fired.

I hate these intermittent faults. Now I will be worried about it happening again. At least its going again like!

Cheers.

You may find the immobiliser if not an original one has used some obscure circuit for supply, earth or ignition switching and some of the wire you have re-connected may be associated. More likely is that either the battery was below full charge or you have a bad contact or earth which has been disturbed when doing the work you mentioned. Might be worth cleaning the earth points and checking all the connections you can find for a good fit and clean surfaces.

Cheers.

Im seriously thinking of ripping the alarm and immobilser out. I hate not knowing exactly how well it has been installed (and i find the "push key fob into the dashboard" to disable immobilser a pain in the rear)
