Has anyone found a cost effective replacement for 944na engine mounts? i can get ones from the US for £60 but i have found so far that a lot of these parts are generic and you can buy new for other VW models at a fraction of the price and inside the UK, i was looking at early golf engine mounts, i htought that even if the fittings are different, they can be taken apart and the rubber bushes in the mount replaced.

Anyone had a go at this or have any better ideas? :-)

Not aware of any alternatives. Beware the cheapies as I've heard from more than one source that they don't last long & as they are a PITA to replace you don't want to be doing it too soon.

I didn't think they were that expensive around £40 from design 911 and as it has been said they are awkward to fit so you don't want to be doing it too soon again.

Pretty sure the ones at around £50 are pattern ones, genuine OEM ones are more like £80-90 I think.

Not sure about OEM v Pattern just saw the cost on Design911 and thought I would mention it, mine were changed just before I got the car and still look fine, but I think you are probably right about the cost thing. Do I remember rightly about changing the mounts for ones fitted to a turbo as they are better designed or am I getting mixed up?

Get the ECP ones, they are genuine ones with the part numbers buffed off and 1/3 of the price. You can meaure to see how knackered yours are, there are dimensions in the workshop manual,

I found it okay, would be a bit cheaper, anythings better then my current ones, i think a few haribo egg sweets wedged in there would do a better job as it is now.
