Unfortunately I have half this stuff already which has cost me a hell of a lot more and I have other plans for this year so budget already allocated but someone else might be interested and want to have a go at upgrading their turbo
Bet the exhaust sounds good

Oooooo that does look nice but I already have a few bits from it too. Anyone just need the wastegate, boost controller, gauges and FPR?

I notice they also have a set of big red brakes for sale too, which would probably be a good idea with that lot.

I've been mulling that over for a day or two now. More than I had planned, both financially and power wise but good value all the same. I think this is 340 at the wheels so more like 400 at the flywheel which is quite alot...

New in this would be £3400 from LR plus fitting - purchase, shipping, import duty at approx exchange rates.

When they say 340 what engine are they starting with, a 220 or 250? Don't know what version of their turbo they're using either but it looked good value, especially as you get a MAF kit and the exhaust aswell but doesn't say if the downpipe option is on there. I've still got original turbo on mine and still no exhaust (Jon if you're reading this  )

If anyone goes for it would be interesting to compare the Lindsey kit with my JMG kit.

Understandable a n/a wouldn't be build 2 reliable handle this power, but what else would be needed 2 turbo a n/a engine? 16 and 8v. 944 s already has a 220 bhp turbo gear box and suspension set up ? Along with pulling power you would want stoping power.

Just a thought. I read time and time again that a turbo wasn't just a bolt on kit, but then there's also oppoins that is wasn't the best design ethir.

Terra, It's a non starter to turbo a NA. Much cheaper just to bolt in a turbo engine complete if you can find a good one. The stock gearbox is plenty strong enough if it's in good condition. Only the diff is a little weak as it has only one pinion. But fitting an LSD cures that. It's been tried many times before.

so what you're saying JJ is that buying this kit for a 2.5na is not a route to getting Turbo power simply?

Defintely not, most of the engine is different on the turbo.

Porsche did this brilliant magazine advert when they launched the 944 Turbo:

Image

Here’s the full text, since it’s quite small there:
Quote:
The theory that a whole is greater than the sum of its parts did not originate with Professor Porsche.

But he, for one, wholeheartedly subscribes to it.

Because if he’s learned anything in four decades of building cars, it’s that a change in one component can profoundly affect the performance of the others. And ultimately, the performance of the whole car.

Nowhere is this more evident than in the area of turbocharging.

Porsche pioneered this technology for production cars back in 1975. And realised from the start that simply bolting on a turbocharger, tweaking the engine a little and re-naming the car was the wrong way to go about it.

The right way is revealed below.

Every component shown here was deemed necessary to transform a normally-aspirated 944 into a turbocharged 944.

Major engine components, more then 30 in all, to compensate for increased internal loads and heat.

Chassis components, from shock absorbers and brakes to wheels and tyres, to meet higher performance demands.

Front and rear body components, to improve wind resistance at higher speeds, while controlling lift and drag.

To say nothing of the turbocharger itself which, among other innovative bits of technology, includes two water cooling systems to protect turbine bearings, even after the engine is turned off.

Of course, if we hadn’t gone to such lengths with the 944, we could still have built a turbo.

We just couldn’t have built a Porsche.

Ugh. I really dislike that American style of advertising copy, where they start loads of sentences with ‘And’.

Don't get me wrong I wish I owned a turbo. Really kick my self 4 not hanging out a little longer. Iv got the sales broucher 4 my modles year. 1988. 924s 944s 944 turbo. It's says pretty much same thing. With the same pictures. Iv heard and read, not nessarly belived that the turbo wasn't designed as well as one would expected from Porsche. Just bicthing than anything. Like I said I still want one.

I have looked long and hard at this but have finally decided not to go for it.
Mark at RPM has offered it at 1500 which compared to the 3400 it would be new is a cracking deal.
Promax would fit it and they deal with with LR anyway. They suggest around 25-30hrs so 1750 ish.
Its a good deal but I'm not brave enough!

Maybe someone is?

At £1500, if I had the money spare right now I'd buy it. Maybe after another pay day or two!

Trouble I'm having with my JMG setup I'm tempted to rip out what I've had done and try this setup. Wonder if he'll do a PX, my lot was £3k without an exhaust or any gauges  The bargains always come at the wrong time don't they
