Hi
I am looking for a flywheel damper for an 88 auto 2.5 lux. Mine has broken up.
Anybody have one available please?
Thanks

I dont want to sound too negative Adrian, but I think that youll struggle. Early and late cush drives are very rare in even reasonable condition: and theyre very expensive new, as Im sure you realise.

The series one cars used an AUDI transaxle and I always presumed that the cush drives would be a (perhaps obscure) VAG part...

Hi
Yes I know. I've tried a few people on ebay and it's the first part that gets sold. Obviously a major problem.
I'm not prepared to buy a new one so may just end up breaking the car up if nothing turns up.

Thanks
Adrian

Thatd be a shame, but Id be surprised if you found one. The reason being that used to deal in the parts 10-15 years ago and you struggled to find a decent one then.

You don't need to break it. You can do a repair that works. Talk to Jon Mitchel. http://www.jmgshop.com/ Think Jim (TR7V8) already pointed you at this.

Hi Adrian, I have a 1983 Lux Auto here that drove fine. It is being broken for parts at the moment. The starter motor is still attached at the moment so may be able to pop it off and have a look up the bell housing to see what condition it is in? The engine, torqu tube and box are still in the car at the mo. I don't know if the part ever changed between models??? Any idea Simon if they were the same??? I know very little about the Auto model setup as you very rarely see them up here???

Hi Alasdair
Thanks for that. I will try to find out if there is a difference or hopefully somebody on here may know???
You can't see it properly from the back with the starter removed. We put a camera in and saw the rubber all broken up. It will need the engine out or the torque tube removing.
Can you send me your tel. no. please?
Thanks
Adrian

I think that they may be a little cheaper from Euro Car Parts. I seem to remember guys on the 968 Forum mentioning £600 or thereabouts.
