Hi All,
its been a long time sinse i darkened these boards and attended a meet.

i thought i would pop on and bring you all the news, some good some not so good and some better than that.

Around christmas time i spoke to a gurl on facebook about some parts for the GTO. who mentioned was mowed out with work, her better half (you lot wont know him) is Hans who runs Ground Zero Performance in Easton in Pennsylvania. i jokingly said...does he need any mechanics?, Hans must have been in yelling distance and said yes he does. so the deal was set.

sarah later collared the same gurl and told her that Hans needs to fill out a I-140 form and submit that to the employement bureau who then vett it and hand it to homland security for final vetting. they then send confirmation to the American embessy in london who send me an interview time and date. its all complicated bs, but we have never been state side. Anyway Hans agree's. last month when both our GTO's have gone and have been near on mythered to death off hans we book the flight.

i collar Hans on facebook again and confirm a date we will arrive and what he has done about the form? in his words.... we dont need forms, i employ illegals, just sayin'.
this isn't the news i wanted. i didn't sell everything to go get kicked from the states for being illegal, so i contact another guy who i have on my friends list who is a well known tuner/mechanic on these. and he said to avoid Hans at all costs and go and see him when we land or within a couple of week, have a vacation first and see some of the country then meet him and discuss things.

this doesn't mean a garenteed job or sponsorship. but i hope something comes of it. we are there for 3 months on the esta visa and the money we have wont last that long thats for sure. there are folk we could stay with a week at a time, so that would cut the cost of renting or hotels quite a bit.

just have to play this one by ear. but by the sound of the other guy its kinda promising.

anyway i thought i would pop on and let you all know this, we fly on the 27th of this month :)

Long time, no hear.

Congratulations mate. I really hope it all works out for you. Sounds like you had a close shave too. Thanks for popping along to the forum too.

I have two friends who are travelling, just living life and getting jobs to pay for tomorrow. One in Australia, and one has just moved from Portugal to Italy. They are both loving it and loving the dream life too.

Sounds like a real adventure. Really hope the second job prospect works out for you!

thanks guys,
i'm sure it will come good, it will end up a happier ending than it would have if i either stayed here or went to GZP. i have invites from all over the US to go work on cars and stay at houses so i'll just play it by ear for now. if nothing comes from the 2nd guy there are a couple other offers around. i just have to keep my wits about me and my options open.

one things for sure, the yanks are very welcoming in that respect :) for those who have been to the states will know this already, they will offer a job just to hear the accent all day lol.

Go for it Colt. Lifes short & you got to take your chances. Will be an experience for sure. If it doesn't work out just make sure you got enough to come back & start again. Petrols a bit cheaper out there isn't it. All the best. :D

Yup go for it as the rest say. I had my opportunity to work in the USA in 85 & couldn't agree T & Cs. If I had then I probably wouldn't be here in the UK now. Really love it over there & would go like a bullet & let Gordy one eye get on with screwing the UK, but Mrs TR7V8 lived there for 10years & doesn't want to go back.

$2.66/gal for super.

thanks all if it doesn't work out it would have been a nice 3 month holiday. its a return flight so that part is covered as a backup plan. if i get sorted i will probably stay and sarah can pop back and sort the stuff to be shipped over then head back herself. besides one way tickets are expensive lol.
