Thought it was a good idea as I never use the rear wiper either, so had a go this evening. First took the wiper and motor out, then took out the original rubber seal, cleaned all the glass, put sealant in the rubber seal groove and re-fitted. Then took the bike handlebar end plug as it is perfect size (photo 1), cut the bottom layer off so it is flush on the inside of the window, filled it with sealant and pushed it into place. See photo 2 and 3. It is black, but the flash on the camera makes it look a little grey.

Job done, cost was zero as the bar end plug was a spare one in my 'bike box' in the shed and the sealant was also in the shed. I think it looks alright, but may eventually spend £14.50 from JMG (as opposed to £20 from Promax for exactly the same thing).

The car does have a much cleaner look now.

I rarely use the wiper, and when I do it's pointless because a) it sweeps for a LHD car, and b) the blade was on it's way out anyway.

I'm going to do the front ones tomorrow

My car lives outside too Jim. The wiper was useless for me. Soon as you get going it wipes itself with the airflow. Point to note is there are 2 hole sizes in these screens. Mine is the small one from an early screen & the bung sold by JMG would not fit anyway. Like Trimans solution. Maybe I should paint mine black!

Car isn't garaged Jim, being a modern house (we moved in new twelve years ago next month) it has one of those what I call 'en-suite garages' (door goes into the hallway) that allows you to drive your car in.... but then you can't open the doors to get out of it. I just back or nose it in as required to work on it as it's nicer kneeling on the carpet than the driveway, and it keeps me out of the wind and rain. If I have anything to do on the sides of the car that necessitates removing a wheel or having to have the door open then I have to do it on the drive.

It will be a real 968 bridge spoiler Terry as it is one of the last run-out S2 models. It was £36000 in September 1991, but seeing as the 968 was being released they let the guy before me buy it for £28639 and 36 pence, including a full tank of fuel and 12 months road tax - I have the invoice. And he was allowed to choose the colour too.

I washed the car today - no leaks where I've done the DIY bung.
