Fibreglass front wings
Looks like my new wings will arrive today. This is terribly exciting.

Re: Fibreglass front wings
Will be interesting to see what they are like when they arrive. Every GRP wing set I've been involved in has been a nightmare to fit, will be interesting to see how these fit as they look fantastic.

Re: Fibreglass front wings
I decided to be the guinea pig. Everybody always talks about how these ones from Teilecar look like the best on the market, but nobody I know across the various forums and mailing lists has actually tried a pair out yet.
I’m having a custom exhaust built on the car tomorrow, then it’s time to start taking the car and wings around a few bodyshops for a chat with the fitters … I’ll be choosing very carefully who gets to do the work and I’ll be watching them like a hawk!

Re: Fibreglass front wings
I'm liking the inset crest, very classy. I personaly think the intakes would of looked better as 2 longer ones 1-2 3-4 then 4, but sporty none the less. Just 4 price comperssion, how much were these? Think pro9 and clubautosport are about 150 a side. No more rust in years 2 come.

Re: Fibreglass front wings
That’s the idea, yeah—never rust again and as a bonus lose a little weight. In fact, they arrived over lunchtime and they’re so light it’s mindblowing. There’s no weight to them at all. I’ll be carrying these home from work by hand tonight, I think.
I did a lot of research before diving into this. There really isn’t anybody supplying fibreglass wings for a Turbo/S2 in the UK. Pro-9 and CA/SAR supply standard shape wings and then hand-shape them when fitting to a Turbo or S2. Fantastic, skilled work, but not practical for me since I’m all the way up in Glasgow and they’re, well, not.
The general feeling from people who have gone the fibreglass route before (mostly on race cars) seemed to be that if you wanted properly shaped Turbo wings you had to order from the US or from Teilecar—and whilst nobody had actually tried the Teilecar product, they looked like a really high quality piece of kit.
A the current exchange rate these cost me £360 for the pair, including shipping from Poland. The downside being that I also had to buy two Porsche crests on top of that because the insets would look pretty silly without crests mounted in them.

Re: Fibreglass front wings
Hello,
Can I ask where you got them from?
I want to get fibreglass wings, bonnet and even a perspex hatch for my track 924 but having trouble finding suppliers.
Thanks
Neil

Re: Fibreglass front wings
I got them from Teilecar. Link here
For a 924 though, I think you’d be able to get fibreglass and lexan parts in the UK.
Try SAR Classics, Club Autosport and Pro-9. I recommend SAR Classics, but it’ll partly depend on who’s nearest for you.

Re: Fibreglass front wings
That site is definitely worth a look http://teilecar.com/?company,1 - thanks for bringing it to our attention Tony. I wonder why it's a German website based in Poland, not that it matters.
The translation is a bit dodgy, for example fibreglass becomes polyester. I can picture the scene now, "I'm just doing a coloureds wash dear, anything to go in?", "Just a minute and I'll take the wings off my car"
Be careful though, if she did them on a 60 instead of 40 degree they'd be too small when you went to put them back on......
Listen, it's amusing me, you haven't had to spend the afternoon working out why not to take money out of Investment Bonds and put it into ISAs for a merry widow. All that work for nothing just to stop her getting stitched up. My theory is...... are you asleep yet

Re: Fibreglass front wings
I’ll even do a piece for All Torque. I’m having to repair/upgrade a few things at once, so I think it’ll be a worthwhile running report.
I’ve actually just dropped my car off at Stainless Creations in Falkirk for phase one of the modifications … a 3" straight through back end for the exhaust.
Looks like the stainless system I already have on the car is somewhat, erm, special. The wastegate’s in a different place to standard, the cat’s been deleted … the list goes on. Funny the things you don’t learn until a specialist points them out. Even Porsche Centre engineers haven’t mentioned it before when poking about under the car! (They must have all assumed I knew what had been modified, when it was actually done by previous owners.)

Re: Fibreglass front wings
do u have some pics? of the wings, do they look like they need a lot of preping b4 painting? so what was the grand total? wings postage and crests?
looking at there 968 rear spoiler, you can see the desgin and detail, much better then anything else iv seen, shame they dont make some nice side skirts, not keen on the box sills.
