Hi can somebody shed some light on how to lower the rear on a 924s by 20mm,i have looked and scratched my head is there any other way than dropping the rear right of ?

Someone with more knowledge will come along I have no doubt, but I think you can rotate the torsion bar?

I assume the rear set up is the same a 944?

If so you can lower the rear a certain amount on the eccentrics, if this is not enough you need to re-index the torsion bars - big job.

Hi Rich just the job answer my question and looks like i can gain what i need'as you say a massive job to adjust the torsion bars again many thanks.

If it is the same as the 944 I think you need a 36 mm spanner and a hefty breaker bar too, I've got both but I still couldn't shift mine.

I will check tmw, but I'm sure I read in the peter morgan book, that u can gain 1" by turn the rear shocks upside down. Well something along them lines.

Dunno how that works, the shocks on the rear of a 944/24 have absolutely nothing to do with ride height.

(lowering suspension is reasonably straightforward, but should be gone using the right equipment. At the rear of pre 1978 cars, the ride height is adjusted as on 911 by eccentric bolts on the spring plates. On later cars the suspension should be removed to adjust the rear ride height. At the front the coil springs should be cut, the amount is trial and error, driver the car after each cut 2 get it 2 settle. The rear axle height can be adjusted a small amount without having 2 remove the torsion bars, by loosening the bolts on the 2 peace spring plates. 944 it can be lowered by 25mm 1" on us models. 2 lower futher you would need 2 take out the torsion bars.

None of that says lowering is acheived by turning the shocks upside down!
A lot of the racers cut holes in the front of the rear wheel arch to get torsion bars out without dropping the suspension, but yes without that you'd get some adjustment on the plates then it is drop the suspension.

Yes jim, that's why I said are check. Wasn't 100 pecent sure. Do you think it's possable 2 lower uk spec models an 1" at the rear?

Not sure but wouldn't surprise me. The plates have some adjustment but not a lot, especially if the torsion bars hhave settled over the years.

Think we may have answered foxs question. What would be the process for such a task? Tools needed? Cutting springs is a big no no, I alway thought? MIT lower mine if it clears the wheels on the wheel arch, my 18" fillS them almost flush.
