I don't really use my rear wiper, rather then pay 2 have the wiper arm repainted I thought I mit delte it. Has anyone else done this? Quite a simple job. Just wondering if anyone can recomened a product, and if the wiring needs looping?

Many thanks

Hi,

I'd leave it on personally if its still workng. Most people only bung them when the wiper motor packs up.

It's true though. It is a bit wasted as it's wiping the wrong side of the rear screen. Better than nothing though.

I deleted my rear wiper because at speeds over 10mph the glass clears itself just fine—and I prefer the look without it.

A wee plastic bung does the trick but looks a bit makeshift. I prefer the machined composite ones that are sold by Promax and by John Mitchell’s Garage. They are coated a nice black, include good quality rubber seals (just little O-rings) and work very well, screwing together from both sides of the glass.

Maybe it depends on how you use your car I use mine almost every day rain snow or sunshine and I could not manage without my rear wiper, particularly to clear external condensation on cold mornings.

Thanks Iv done a little web shearch, them pro max ones look quite good, I think it would look cleaner, I use the car daily but not during the day as I'm at work, didn't find it much use in the snow really. How long have u had the pro max one on? Still water tight. Did u need 2 loop the wiring? I think I remba the fuse has a few other small electrics on the same circuit. ?

Used 2 tap washers & a stainless nut & bolt. Cost about 50p. Looks just as good as a bought one & is still watertight. All you can see is the stainless with the rim of the washer. The chamfers a perfect fit in the hole. £10 for a bung your having a laugh! Maybe i should start flogging them on ebay........

I tried something similar, didn’t like the way it looked. I’m happier with the more expensive option, it looks more ‘Porsche’ if you know what I mean—and ten or twenty quid doesn’t exactly break the bank.

I also tried plastic snap-together bungs which are designed for just this sort of thing—but never found one that fitted quite perfectly. They looked fine, but always leaked.

I ran a car in all weathers with the Promax/JMG bung (it’s the same product from both places) for a couple of years with no bother. I’ve just picked one up for my current car because it’s got a plastic one in there just now and I’m fed up with that leaking.

I just leave the wiring in place, hidden out of sight with a little black electrical tape. That way I can put the wiper back in any time the weather gets really bad—it’s only a two minute job.

Quite clean jj, but dose sort of look like the wiper is missing. :o
I think are buy a more expensive one, But repected your craftmenship.

will also make it easy 2 get at the inside off the spoiler (eBay one) tht needs tidying up around the glass.

Just phoned pro max, order there bung and mayb a chip. Oil pressure is sitting between 4.5 -5 under acletration. Is this a good sing? Engine runs well and hits better then figures stated, also had a topend rebuild with the engine re machined.

Yup anything over 4 Bar is healthy, depends what oil grade you're running but it sounds healthy.

When warm it should be around 3 bar whilst at idle and around 5 bar when driving along

It seems 4 at the lowist, just turned over or at at running temp. I had a sticky one before stayed dead on 4 bar. So I changed it, now iv got between 4-4.5 and 5 as soon as u put on the gas, drops 2 4.5 when I brake. Only on a day b4 in went in 2 be resparyed so not alot 2 base it on, prob covered about 30miles that day.

Thanks 4 the feed back.
