Not sure if the GTV did, but the Alfetta most certainly did. Apparently it didn't have the best gearchange, but I guess that's not part of the reason to buy an Alfa .

By the way, a 3.0 litre V6 sounds a good idea when petrol is destined to hit £1.24 a litre in two weeks time......

Eh? Have you seen what's happening to the Euro now that Greece is rearing its head again. Oil price went down about 2% on friday as $ strengthened against € which is a phenomenal move. Greece may turn to IMF for loan this week if Germany won't cough up, which will further strengthen dollar (oil priced in $).

Anyway Alfas are wonderful, with exception of the new ones which for some bizarre reason have diesel engines (nothing against decent diesel but they are about as far from the essence of Alfa as you can get - this is corporate brand stewardship from the school of GM/SAAB). My first car and first love a Sud Ti. You missed a treat if you didn't go to Race Retro and see all the cars from owners' club celebrating Alfa centenary.

Oil prices go down and tax goes up? No win situation.

Any one on here ever owned one?

Interested in the V6 version

Yes, I had a Red (alfa rosso) Alfetta GTV v6 in 1982 , reg WVD579S. As you can probably tell I have very fond memories of that car. I think you are probably interested in the new model, but that car was just wonderfull...

is the GTV the one with the gearbox at the rear a la 944 ?

The original Alfetta GTV (both in 2.0 litre 4 cylinder and in 3.0 6cylinder models) had the gearbox at the rear for an (almost) 50/50 weight distribution and the rear discs mounted by the gearbox (not at the rear wheels), to reduce the sprung (sp?) weight and keep the rear down when you cornered.
The 3.0 litre v6 went like the clappers.

Looked at getting one years ago, they go well and look good.
But the build quality isnt fantastic, interior falls apart for no reason.
The big 3litre engine is the best bit, sounds great.

I ended up buyin a corrado vr6 instead, one of the best cars ive ever owned.
