Hi All,

Anyone know what part 94460611500 named a Pulse sender actually does? Seems to be some kind of sensor that plugs into the ignition control unit. Don't understand what it does and where it is on the car?

Thanks
Regards
Paul

It's usually referred to as the crank sensor or flywheel speed sensor, and is situated on top of bell housing. You can see it when you remove air box.

Job is to signal to the LH that engine is turning, signal TDC and relative crank position. In absence of signal there's no spark.

Signal from this sensor also feeds the rev counter which aids diagnosis of crank sensor failure (needle doesn't move).

It often fails around 20 years - in particular the connector crumbles. Won't run without it!

Great, thanks! I just bought one, so at least know what to do with it now :-)

Where from Paul and do you mind saying what it cost?

It's expensive via Porsche but I can find the Bosch cross-reference code for it, and understand it's a lot cheaper buying via Bosch channels.

Am bound to need one in future so good to be prepared.

Hello,

I bought a job lot of new parts and one of these was included.
Bit of luck :-)

Unfortunately it was the only one!

Paul

Hi Paul :)

Yes that Russian download site is VERY slow plus the gaps between files for free downloads...the last of the 4 files is tiny though..only 9 mb...

If you get stuck on anything let me know and I will help....

All the best Brett :)

Thanks Brett!

74% on file 3 at the moment. Glad the last one is a smaller file.

Looking forward to trying it out,

Regards
Paul

I downloaded the 7.0 version without problem.
This is the same as the VW ETKA system which I already had. Much better! Glad Porsche adopted it. My weekend has been made. I am easily pleased!
