Fading lemon yellow Vauxhall Chevette 1.3 - 1st car. Had to carry a hammer with me to thump the starter motor.

my xr3 had a dodgy starter, was going round the north circular and i stalled it at lights, wouldnt turn, so i ran to the boot grabbed hammer and dod of wood that i used to make it turn, ran to front, pulled bonnet went to lift hammer to do the business and the next thing i know a bloke has lept out of the car i was stopping from moving as I had stalled in front of him, grabbed hold of me in a bear hug and shouted " its ok mate , theres no need to do that" turned out he thought I had gone psycho and was going to hammer the car to bits !!!!!!!!!! very embarrased when I explained what i was doing.
