Access is Denied.

Registration is required, dont panic, its free :D

It is a fascinating thread, but I supect flames to break out at any moment with the allegations from Promax.
If proven to be true it may do serious damage to JMG's reputation.

With regards to fitting a chip. It isnt difficult providing you take your time and dont rush. Fitting a chip is straightforward, getting access to it is the tricky bit.

The claim was originally made by a customer; but has been verified by ProMAX Motorsport (we have known about it for quite some time).

Fitting the chip is easy; just remove the ECU from inside the car, open up the ECU and slip in the chip. Full and comprehensive instructions are provided along with a money back guarantee.

Regards,
Andrew

I have been told that some of the DIY chips just fool the car into thinking the engine is cold, so it alters the emissions. This cuts back the air and increases the fuel = more bhp. But you have to take it back out for the MOT. But for £100 I would expect a bit more.

Some may do that.

However, a properly developed performance EPROM (chip) contains enhanced operational code to deliver different ignition advance and fuel delivery to enhance performance under a variety of conditions enabling the driver to get the most from the car's engine and the UK's higher octane fuels that are available.

Not only is peak BHP moderately enhanced, but overall throttle response, drivability and mid range response is measurably improved. You will feel the difference.

Andrew (Promax)

I have recently been considering a chip upgrade to my 'S' Obviously both yourselves and JMG where in the picture. The comments on both this and the PCGB forums have certainly got me leaning towards Promax. (Although custom mapping By wayne at Chip wizards also interests me as I am sure you can appreciate).

Life was much easier with my Octavia vRS

Hi Howard,

I've known Wayne for many years and he performs great work on many different kinds of car.

For a normally aspirated car with no modifications there is little scope for improving much on our off the shelf product; especially when you consider the cost/benefit ratio.

If you want to try one, it's risk free as there is a no quible 100% money back warranty on all performance chips. The 944S responds very well (assuming the car is in good shape to begin with).

Regards,
Andrew

I had a ProMax chip in my S2 Cab, car felt a lot smoother through the rev range no issues with MOT during the 4 years I owned the car.

Richy S organised a Dyno Day and there were a few S2's on the day with ProMax chips and all achieved 5+BHP over the S2's that didn't have one fitted.

If I was to buy another '44 I would be straight down to ProMax for one of their chips. :)

My car went on the dyno first job. The fueling was out by a mile though the car was standard & everything was working. (4K rebuild & new injectors.) Had I fitted a chip whether promax or otherwise it would not have worked. In fact it would have made it worse. They do not work in all cases & should always be checked on the dyno to see that no damage is done to the engine through incorrect fuel ratio. A remap is more expensive because its mapped for your particular car Your head. Your inlet manifold. Your exhaust. They are not all the same due to production tolerances & 20 years of use. The S2 has a lambada sensor & a more sophisticated fuel injection so plug in chips should work well with them. The 8v & twin cam S really should be mapped in IMHO. If you want power why do half a job & then not check the results! You get what you pay for.
