Re: Dashboard Polish 944
Most of the dash finishes are OK, I think I use the Simoniz one but one of the concours guys will be along in a minute to recommend something made from a very rare fruit only found in Timbuktu, pressed using only the feet of vestil virgins & costing a small lottery win per millilitre
One word of warning most of them are silicone based, try NOT to get it on the paint work as it is a pig to remove the contamination.

Re: Dashboard Polish 944
I always go for something that leaves a matt finish myself. Personal taste I guess I just find if I use a shiny finish it reflects badly on the windscreen particularily at night driving me nuts.

Re: Dashboard Polish 944
Point well made and I 100% agree. I jump into the cars of some of the guys who work for me, and can't see where I am going! I can't say anything to them because the other end of the scale is haveing to put overalls on just to get in the drivers seat. The shiny dash looks good, but not practical when the sun is low in the sky.watchcam wrote:I always go for something that leaves a matt finish myself. Re: Dashboard Polish 944
By way of a test, I did about a quarter of my 1991 944 Marine Blue dash last June with the (then) new Zymol Vinyl Conditioner - the £13 one, not the £26 one.
It left a deeper blue, matt, not shiny, non-greasy, and I used a tiny amount. Smells of almonds. 12 months later you can still see the line. Maybe I'll finish it off now as I've proven the point to myself...
I'm starting to get some cracks and will just live with them, but at least the colour looks more interesting now.

I use Meguairs interior trim detailer, costs about £7. Not shiney and I've been using the same bottle for about 4 years and use it on all the fleet.

Greasy at all, and does it attract dust ?
We stock that as well, I have to admit I've not tried everything.

Re: Dashboard Polish 944
Hi,
I use Auto Glym Leather Care Cream - for real! When I was cleaning up the interior last year, I noticed on the bottle it could also be used on vinyl and exterior plastics. It gives a deep shine and looks the mutts nuts.
They've stopped doing it though recently. Luckily, I've stock piled a load for future use. Auto Glym have replaced this item with Leather Care Balm but there's nothing to say its safe for use with vinyl's etc. You may find a few places still stocking the old stuff.

Re: Dashboard Polish 944
I've never found it to be greasy or a dust magnet. You do have to shake the bottle well before use and use very liberally applying with a pad or cloth.944Tman wrote:Greasy at all, and does it attract dust ?

Re: Dashboard Polish 944
autoglym rubber and vinyl care.
Put it on and wipe it off. Do it straight away and its matt, leave it for 10 mins and its satin and then leave it for 30 and its glossy.
However clean the area first with de greaser or all purpose cleaner. Otherwise is will look streaky as it sits on old polish / treatment. Golden rule for anything you put on the car...rid the old stuff first.

Re: Dashboard Polish 944
What do you use as de-greaser I need to try and get the door cards on my S2 to be black rather than slightly faded grey but don't want to make them worse than they are by using something to strong to remove the polish from before.Clive993 wrote:autoglym rubber and vinyl care.

Not sure that you 'll need to degrease really, just use a good interior cleaner before you apply the dressing which should bring the colour back
