Hi. I have a 1987 924S, 49,000 miles, which I have owned since 1988, when it had done 16,000 miles. This car is not often used. I have found the clutch pedal is on the floor, and there seems to be a leak from the hydraulic slave cylinder, which I cannot see clearly as it appears to be above the starter motor. I am trying to find a source of new seals for the slave cylinder and also the master cylinder. Can anyone help please with both a source for the parts and any advice re fitting them?

NOt sure seals are available in practice although they maybe listed. The slave & master are around £60 each & most just change the complete cylinder. Have a shop around ECP, GSF Porscheshop, Berlyn etc. for the slave. You may have to take the starter off to get the slave off if the bolts are as tight as mine was! Check the master isn't leaking before you get stuck in & when bleeding DO NOT pump the clutch pedal full stroke as you'll knacker the master cylinder seals & be doing it again in a few weeks!

As a complete newcomer to the art of bleeding hydraulic circuits, please can I ask you to take the trouble to run thro' the complete procedure, from replacing both master and slave cylinders, to ready for use? I would normally get a garage to do this work, but the car is immobile, I live in rural France 10 miles from the nearest country garage, and am anxious to make sure this is done properly.
A friend has lent me a hydraulic bleed kit, which includes a container with a pipe to attach to the bleed valve, this has a non return valve at the end of the pipe in the container, so I am hoping this will help matters. Unfortunately my friend has never used the kit, so is unable to offer any practical assistance.
Your help would be much appreciated.

Jim, one further question, if you don't mind.
The info from Clarks garage recomends, when bleeding the slave cylinder, raising the rear of the car up as high as possible above the front of the vehicle.
Is this for ease of working underneath please, or an important part of the hydraulic bleeding procedure?

A bit of both TBH. I did mine with it jacked from one side but I can see it being a pain especially if you have new master & it is dry. In which case jacking the back would help. You'll need quite a slim bleed tube & a fairly small spanner (6 or 7mm???) to do it. I now posses a pressure bleeder that works off of the compressor for this & I anticipate that it'll be hugely easier the next time. I've never had any success with Easi Bleed type things off a tyre but lots of others do.

Save yourself a lot of grief & use it more. These cars hate being laid up! You may still have needed the cylinder. But I bet not.

I bled mine recently. Jacked the rear of the car up as high as possible to give me enough room to remove the starter motor and access the slave. Put the bleed kit on (with non return valve) and then pushed the clutch pedal up and down slowly using my hand whilst keeping an eye on the kit under the car for air bubbles. The back is raised as it means that the bleed valve is higher than the cylinder making sure the air bubbles get ejected easier.

As for the seals I think I saw them available on porscheshop.co.uk but my slave cylinder was so rusted inside it needs to be replaced.

As usall, The Porscheshop (£24..67) are nearly twice OPC price on the repair kit, OPC £13.41 92811690100....
