The RHD rack has just been superceeded 3 times, from 92734701020 to 92734701022 to 92734701026, so it basically all racks fit all cars from 1978 to 95

Yep .. but they have different length arms. And there is a reference to different size diameters on the first two?

The main point is while they will fit physically they will not all work as they are not long enough. I.e. an S4 rack won't fit an S or an S2 unless you put longer track rod arms on it.

A new one might come from Porsche without arms, but if you buy from a recon steering rack dealer you get arms a lot of the time. And the wrong ones sometimes like I have!
Anyway fingers crossed it gets sorted. Now have another issue. .... snapped nipples on my calipers.

Brett - I think 86.5 calipers have Brembo written on them?
Dont want to source the wrong ones (mine don't have Brembo)

Regards
Paul

Hi,

Not sure how I tell the difference?
I have to go down and see the guys who are sorting the rack and will ask.

Been ringing round to find someone who recons them, but no one seems to want to know.
I think i'll replace the ones with snapped nipples and have a go at doing the others myself.

Regards
Paul

Only the late S2s had fixed calipers, yours is 85 so pretty sure they are floating.

the fixed calipers (Brembos) have pistons on both sides.

Oh got ya ... know what is meant now. No I don't have the 86.5 4 pots.

There is an update ... I have ordered x4 replacement calipers which arrive Fri/Monday next week so going to get them fitted next week.

Just not sure what to do about pads and discs as they are good condition, but for another few hundred quid is it worth replacing them? Probably not, but would be interested on peoples views.
Given the impending cost of a cam belt at Paul A's plus a respray perhaps I should save some cash if they don't need replacing!?
