I usually read the 'my car's got it's MOT today' posts, and cannot actually remember any failing.

I went to tax my car on-line on Monday and it said 'this car has no MOT'. So I checked, and it was right. The MOT expired 28 October 2009... oops! So I booked it in this morning, and as we have come to expect of Porsche quality - it sailed through on 195656 miles (and as I always say 'still the original clutch'). He did point out that my anti-roll bar bushes need changing, and I was able to say that they are in a bag at home waiting for the warmer weather, which is true as I bought them in December from OPC Wilmslow.

We had the wife's MX5 done as well, first one is due on 28th Feb, we've had it since new and it's on 51000 miles - so no problems. The cost of the MOT was £29.95 at HiQ in Northwich. Their normal cost at the moment is £35, but buy the local paper for 50p and get the voucher to get the lower price.

The 944's MOT was at 0930, the MX5's at 1030. I taxed the car on-line when I got home at 1145 - that's how fast the MOT computer link up is.

I don't want to set you guys high standards, but today's the wedding anniversary and Stef has taken the day off so we can be together. So I took her out to have 'his and hers' MOTs. The guys at HiQ were well impressed, especially so when I told them I'd bought her a card too - £1 from M&S... no expense spared here then. I guess I'm just an old fashioned romantic fool.

Better add this bit - I'm taking her out for a nice meal this evening, 7.30 table for two at Gusto in Knutsford (an Italian not a garage).

Disclaimer - other garages are available to take your wife to for a day out.

Good to see you 944's not bucking the trend.

Hi,

The waiting room may not be the place for the nuptials though

How many happy years is that then?

happy to say mine sailed thro' this morning, altho' the tester wouldn't let me go for an hour and a half comparing the 944 to the amount of newer cars that fail on quite serious issues, but it was nice to get underneath it whilst it was on the ramps
