Some good news, makes a change from my moaning about faults....the aircon is still OK over two months after it was repaired by Loe Bank Motors (independent Porsche specialist near me). They fitted a new BEHR condenser, I had replaced the drier already, and they changed low/high pressure valves. The bill came to under £500. I did recently have some trouble with the heating system, which made me think the aircon was faulty again, but it turned out that the ambient temperature control microswitch was not working, so the heater blew warm air until the interior got to about 16 degrees.

On another subject, I wrote to all the previous owners of the car, I always do this when I buy a "classic" car, and nobody has ever replied.
This time I got lucky as the third owners (1991-1997) replied, with loads of history and info, plus the original luggage cover which was still in their loft! They covered 40,000 miles in the car, and want first refusal if I ever sell it.

Nice idea to write to past owners - always meant to do that with last car for which I had very detailed owner records but never got round to it!

If a few more reply who knows what extra parts you'll receive!

Was the faulty microswitch the one operated at extreme cold end of the temp slider?

Result on the history!
How do you get a list of previous owners? From the service history you had or did the DVLA help? Interested in contacting my POs now

I pieced it together from old invoices, and also got list from DVLA to plug some arly gaps. Cost a fiver and you can find the form online.

The 928 came with old invoices/V5 documents/MOT's etc but in the past I've contacted the DVLA. However their records only go back about 15 years I believe.

In answer to the other question yes it was that switch, although I have not repaired it yet.

nice one. I contacted the previous owners of my old Esprit from the limited history file and got a great response..loads of bills, photos and even a spare set of wheels..shipped from the Isle of White (FOC)! You'd be surprised what you can achieve by doing this and of course history adds value. Cheers Rob

Don't forget to include an envelope with your address and a stamp on with each letter you send. I think people are more likely to reply if you do that.
