Required offset for 944 Turbo wheels (87)

This is turning in to a mini nightmare. Can anyone tell me the required offset for 944 Turbo wheels in 16" and in 17" please, particularly the front seems a problem and this is usually seems to be a 7" by 16" or 17".

I have had folk explain this and that which is appreciated but does anyone actually knowm the minimum offset to clear the brakes correctly ?

Also if they fit an S2 do they then fit a turbo , I thought an S2 had the turbo brakes so htis would be a yes ?

I would have thought a list of required offsets per wheel size etc would be a great thing for the club to keep for all new folk like me in the future,

My understanding is that the offset is not something you can alter it's fixed depending on the model.

A wheel with a different offset can be adjusted to fit with the use of shims or spacers.

The diameter and width of the wheel are goverened by whether it will fit under the arch without fouling.

Wheels from modern 911's will fit with spacers, older wheels will not.

Ah , now that's actually very usefull I hadn't found that page thanks.
It seems to confirm my suspicion that the wider wheel = larger offset for starters I.E look at the wheels for early and late turbo's on the list. I'm going to go read it all now.
Having now read it :
It seems very strange how the guy gives the stock wheels for a normally aspirated 87 lux as being the same as an 87 turbo I.E 16" by 7" front with 52.3mm offset. I know for a fact that many 16" wheels that fit an 87 non turbo dont fit the turbo due to brake clearance so i'm a bit worried about trusting that info.

It's down to the strange things that Porsche did in this time period.

AFAIK, the early 220 Turbos came with an Offset of 23ish which did indeed use the S2 calipers AFAIK but of course the spacing was not quite the same. The later 220s and 250s I believe used the same lower arms as post 86 944s (hence they take an offset of 52-55).

Search for Rav's old thread as he was unsure of what lower arm to go for due the exact same reason.

85.5 and 86 oval dash cars use an offset of ET23. They didn't have ABS. Later cars (87 on) did and used the ET52.3 fronts. The S2 and the Turbos all use the same caliper. The only difference is that you need to use a 7 inch rim for front M030 brakes unless you use a 5mm spacer to stop the caliper digging into the 6 inch rim!
