Hi All

My plans for the car for during the winter...

1, A few Revos and hopefully a set of X10`s, (probably have to go braided pipe as well to run 500 hp per Revo x 4) which will mean a night or two in Doncaster

That lot is the new Nitrous equipment I was waiting for and will give me a "Theoretical" maximum 2000 hp if needed plus my normal 310 ish of course

Cost approx £3000.


2, I will change my Clifford alarm system for the new 650 system (BEING FITTED NOW), nothing wrong with old system but 650 is better....

It will give me "Intellistart" (remote control starting)...don`t you just hate getting in a cold car lol...

Also "Smart windows/Sunroof" ...autoclosing plus one touch open close etc...

Blackjax AntiHijacking system....if car jacked you just give them the keys and off they drive for about 30 seconds then alarm siren goes off plus all lights flash plus ignition slowly shuts down.

Dual Proximity alarm, warns anyone away from car if closer than 2 feet, etc....

Cost approximately £700

I do love my gadgets lol.....


3, Try and figure out a way to stop the rain hitting my rear central camera.....1 drop of rain and I cannot see anything at the moment

Cost unknown..apart from a few more grey hairs...

And anything else I can think of as long as it doesn't put the car off the road (daily driver)

Too many really - at glacial pace I get jobs finished could do with cancellation of all of next 'season'!

In addition to normal service items:

- fitting new door stays on each side (driver's door worse but may as well do both). While driver's door card off have a new door seal to fit.

- got half way through changing shocks on previous car then current one came up! Hence I have 2 new front shocks and adjusters to fit as I put new rears on car now sold. Ironically rear ride height is 10mm low (I don't know whether they were adjusted down by previous owner or just saggy shocks) and since adjusters probably seized will get two new rears and new springs all round and do everything in one go.

- snapped a bolt on coolant bridge, so since I'm taking bridge off to fix have new bridge gaskets/o-ring and new oil filler next too (it's a bit oily in the V so new neck and gasket will fix). As it's easier to do all this with intake off I may bring forward intake job which was several years in my 928 future but will allow me to clean up oil in V. Maybe fit new injectors at same time if feeling flush?

- the job I really should prioritise is fitting new engine mounts! Old ones are shot so looking forward to difference it will make in an already smooth car. I would really like to have acquired a scissor list before this job though, or may just get some adjustable ramps which let you raise front of car by a long way.

Just got the car back from the alarm fitter....

New Clifford 650 all fitted...

I now have "Autoclose" on both windows and sunroof as well, so if I leave any windows or roof open and get out of car and alarm it, they all close automatically....

The new "Intellistart" is brilliant, just aim remote from up to 50 meters away, press remote start button, and a couple of seconds later you can hear the V8 rumble into life, and the alarm is still fully activated, and if you forget, it will cut out after 30 minutes

So am looking forward to a warm car to drive to work tomorrow.....

On Sunday I will test the "Blackjax" antihijacking system and let you all know.

Actually I did ask Jo but she claims she hasn't got enough wrapping paper!

That's interesting Brett - my S4 has the autoclose feature with the original Porsche alarm/remote (I think it's PA100). cars with autoclose also had a 'vent' switch which leaves windows /roof open when you lock the car but disables the ultrasonic alarm so wind doesn't set it off. Feature designed for leaving car in hot weather which I've found handy at shows though you need to stay nearby!

Haven't got remote start though! It's been on hire cars I've had in US and it always feels a bit like Knightrider or something when I play with it. Can see how handy it is for cold mornings.

When I have finished working through the manual, mine has an "Autovent" program that I think will open sunroof or windows for a fixed number of seconds or minutes, then close them again and then reopen every so many minutes...

I can imagine someone being near the car when it happens lol....it could give them a heart attack lol.

Might not be possible with your system, but I sat on my remote once before bed (in error and without realising) and opened my curtains the following day to see my windows open on my 3 week old car. And yes it had rained! Thankfully the rain came straight down so little blown in the window!

Due to weather up her in the North and now finished for Christmas, I though it was time to do a few jobs on the 928. Only has 193,000 mile on it (just run in)
Changed the anti-freeze and thanks Brett for the information about it. Plus a few other little jobs that needed doing. So when I was draining out the anti-freeze thought time to check the flex plate. Not looked at it for about two years. Oh S**T it moved quite a bit, some where between 1/4 - 1/2 inch on the shaft.
Something to bear in mind to do. Only took ten to fifteen minutes once the car is on stands.

Well Happy New Year to All Tipec Members and 928 owners.

I wanted to get loads of 928 jobs done whilst I was off over Xmas & New Year and especially this week as I am supposed to be off work, but alas it hasn't worked out that way.

Have been using the 928 up until last week and now put it into the garage away from the snow & salt. Not really warm enough to work on it but I am going to try to get in there.

For Christmas I got my LED light set off ebay...the brightest I could find and the shortest in length @ 250mm long with 24 LED's. I am planning to take off the front light lenses and fix them up into the lens at the top so you can't see them by day and they don't show or affect the light. Was going to put them at the bottom of the lens but you would notice them in the daylight...just...I think. I have some upgrade Blue white LED bulbs to fit at the same time. I will take photo's and do a short write up for the list when I get it done.

I read with interest on the 928 list that someone replaced their front light lenses for new and they gave a better brighter light image????....interesting, I clean mine regularly ass they do get mucky but wonder if I should polish mine when I take them off the car to do the modification? How to polish the inside of the lens I don't know but guess thats where most of the work needs to be done. May post to the list on that one and see if anyone has any idea's.

So, my work list for Jan 2010 looks like.....

- Search for 928 S4/GTS Analogue Clock
- HVAC investigation
- Get down to JDS for a MAF check and ECU remap

- Swop air filter for new
- Exchange LED side light bulbs
- Polish front light lenses inside & out
- Fit LED strip light in lens upgrade for side lights
- Do upgrade of centre console lighting so shift gear lever panel ligts up as well as dash
- wire in permanat power lead to my Road Angel and trace it upo obeind the dash to the windscreen so its out of view & doesn't need to be plugged into the Cig lighter all time
- Fit my new EBC Green brake pads
- Spray Brake Callipers Red
- Finish removing old paint off intake manifold and spray silver
- Sort out centre console switches surround/base so my sunroof switch doesn't keep popping up
- disable my RDK sensor
- investigate why my rear speakers don't work ecept the 2 big bins - wiring issue I guess
- investigate why my drivers door speakers work intermittantly - affected by door being open sometimes
- investigate why my drivers door wiring - how it affects the elec windows operation when its fully open - only works in 6" open mode and nothing to do with door switch contact. Am guessing broken wiring.


Work needed to get done soon in 2010
- New Engine sump seal - to stop oil leak
- Change transmission oil and fit new oil sump seal / Filter
- Change Diff Oil

Should keep me good....

I can't say the LED lights are really doing it for me, half the 'Gary' boy's round here have them fitted to their Saxo's & 106's, but each to their own, I know 997's have them now but they look pants on those as well.
Good luck with the rest of your list, all sounds pretty superficial so hopefully not too much down time when the weather improves, electrical faults could keep you entertained for hours though!

Steve is the speaker problem with the ones at rear of hatch, or the smaller ones next to the main 6.5 inch units by rear seats?

The Speakers that are not working seems to be both sides on the rear parcel shelves / by the rear 1/4 windows. Have checked 1 speaker & its OK so I am guessing wiring issues for the speakers so need to check all wires & connections starting from the CD Head unit!

My first job I'm tackling is my LED bulb upgrade and the LED light strip upgrade modification. I have the Side Light lens off 1 side and will take some photo's once I have completed the transformation - so I can show any difference between either side - old vs new.

Should be interesting to see how it turns out.
