:( just been reading headlines on pistonheads porsche/vw takeover saga cost billions sales plummeting across the board and are just waiting for the last bit of it to be sucked into vw group by 2011 sad days created by people on a mission or ego trip ,did hear a while ago some porsche dealings when attempting to take over vw are being investigated by german authorities!! :( sad days mr porsche senior must be turning in his grave.

It's the same in my place of work. Those who work hard, put the hours in and get the results get trod on and the 9 to 5 if your lucky wasters who couldn't arrange a P up in a brewery get the rewards.

Oh well .... at least Santa's coming! :-)

:) yep company chairman/ceos are like football managers/coaches cock up get relegated/or make company go bust get sacked or resign then pop up some months or a year later and some club or company employs them or join the goverment as some sort of adviser why!!!!

yes santa is coming lets hope he does get put into administration befor 25th december.

lets be honest this is a family feud, young Wolfie didnt go round to grannies for christmas and the porsche's and the pieches all took sides, they have because of this ongoing saga fallen out to the extent that they allow a great company to nearly go to the wall, was the same when furman was the ceo and wanted to build the 928 to the exclusion of all athers and A Porsche stepped in and said its our company so there .................................

this time the Porsches at VAG have won, that should be the end of it.

I'm also sad that Porsche is to lose its independence.

But it's also true that Porsche is historically intertwined with VW, so in that sense events have a pleasing closure to them!

Many commentators on the Porsche/VW saga - even Porsche owners - seemed wholly ignorant of the fact that this was a feud within a family, not between two rival families in Porsche and Piech!

Yes Wiedeking's pay-off was shockingly excessive. But the same people who condemned it were only a few months earlier lauding his and Wolfgang Harter's shrewdness in engineering what was at the time seen as a brilliant financial coup. The credit crunch which made it impossible to service the debt was outside of their control.

Wiedeking was also responsible for saving Porsche as a company with the development of Boxster and the water-cooled 911s. You could say that having saved the company and then overseen its demise things are about even.

Ferdinand Piech himself was author of the most glorious chapters in Porsche's Le Mans successes, so if anyone should now have control of the company he would have a stronger claim than most.

He did great things at Audi too and took them to Rally success.
I loved the stories of him scouring the autobahns hunting for 930's on the Autobahn is his Sport Quattro engined 924.
Ferdinand Piech is a man we can all admire.

Yes,Piech was the man who decided that instead of all the second places and class wins ,Porsche ought to go for the big one,ie Victory at Le Mans.So he set in motion the development of the 917 which in 1970 gave Porsche their first Le Mans victory and we all know the story from there on.Following on from that ,the company went from strength to strength,more victories at Le Mans, plus Daytona,Sebring and the Can-Am series and more or less domination in every sports car championship to the extent that Porsches were actually banned from some championships.And now things seem to have come full circle as they say,as Piech now seems to have won the Porsche family battle and has assumed control of the whole lot.And I am pleased about this because I felt that the Porsche family were a bit flakey about the whole thing and I think the business is now in better hands!We will see if I am right! Maybe we wont see Audi competing with Porsche any more and I hear VW are interested in providing engines for F1 so hopefully the Porsche name will once again be at the forerfront of motor racing where it really belongs.!! :) :) :)

The way forward is front engined or mid engined.
All the recent models have been front or mid engined.
But I would hope the new puppet masters will leave the 911 alone.
I personally thing this move is a great thing.
Remember the way Porsche themselves badly treated its own fans in the late 90's and early 2000's?
No other Marque ever behaved so.
