.....when looking at Porsche parts suppliers in the USA. the prices are often a lot cheaper ($100 each for genuine Boge/Sachs front shocks for instance, against a UK quote of £270 each) but sometimes with small parts they are copy/aftermarket parts.
I wanted the 3 brackets that support the undertray at the front, Porsche wanted £15 each and in the USA they were $8, about a fiver. I ordered them from the USA but they arrived and are not spring steel, so are no use. Also as the order came to more than £18 I got a customs handling charge of £8, plus about £3.50 VAT.
The same supplier did supply the vacuum check valve (NLA according to UK Porsche dealer) and some other bits, which were OK.
I had to order the brackets from the OPC and it was just over £40 for 3.

Hi :)

Which US supplier did you use ?

With experience I have found that I ONLY now use Roger at 928RUS....hes English although he now lives in Texas and hes so reliable he will even get you parts from other US 928 suppliers and check them for you before he sends them....I got both undertrays WITH all the brackets and various other bits including a pair of his air tubes (with a blue bit in middle), he sent me them and very cheap they were....and invoiced me later....

I have not found the other 3 major 928 suppliers anywhere near as good , and I have used all of them in the past....

All the best Brett :)

Agree with Brett that Roger Tyson is a star - fantastic service/knowledge.

I think you used 928 International on my recommendation so feel slightly responsible. They have always been brilliant with my orders and a pleasure to deal with, and they really care about supplying the right stuff. They would want to know if the brackets are unsuitable so do let them know.

Realise it's a hassle for you but I would be surprised if they didn't offer you refund on return of the brackets.

Yes I used both suppliers. 928 international were OK. It's not really worth sending the brackets back, they would work at a pinch, but if they got deformed (by kerbing the spoiler for example, or maybe by wind pressure on the front of the car at very high speeds) they would not spring back into shape. The other parts were fine and it took about 2 weeks for the order to arrive. Also they refunded half the postage after finding that they had over quoted.

928s R US were really good to deal with, it's a bit scary ringing a number in the USA, but the guy who answered was great, except that he made me depressed by commenting on the lovely weather in Dallas, Texas where they are located. (6 hours behind us in time) The other thing is that as he's lived in the UK he knows a lot of the places, which makes it easier to spell out your address.
The bill for 2 new Boge/Sachs front shocks, plus 2 threaded nuts and 2 adjusting sleeves (secondhand but "perfect") was $360 including carriage...about £240. Even with customs charges it will come to under £300, less than half the UK price.
