:) I've seen mention on here of people refering to manuals and PET (?) etc. can anyone tell me where I can buy, hopefully, an official Porsche 928 workshop manual and a parts list for a 928 GTS at a sensible price? Sorry I should say I'm after a printed version not some ropey CD that I've then got to print off. I've searched on the internet and the prices are a bit stiff to say the least, in the region of $1150.00

They do sell in the UK for £200 quite often (proper manuals) on Ebay. However I noticed one on for £450 last night. That wont get any bids, so might want to see if it gets re listed cheaper?

Hi :)

I paid £360 for my set of paper manuals.....if you EVER see them for less than £300, bite their hands off lol....

Pet 6 is downloadable for free but its only a parts list with pictures and no prices and needs an extremely strange resolution setting on your computer to run.

Link to PET >>>> http://www.porsche.com/uk/accessoriesan ... catalogue/

All the best Brett :)

Please don't remind me....I was the person who bid £25.00 for thoes 6 manuals and then was unavoidably busy at the end of the auction - and somebody outbid me by a miserable £1 - story of my life :( :(

:) Thanks for the replies, I guess I'll just have to dig deep into my pocket but at those prices it won't be until after Christmas, although I'm sure my son would understand if he got one instead of the lap top he's hoping for!! :D

The parts list is a free download from Porsche.

It's a pdf file so needs no odd resolution to view, at least on a Mac (maybe Brett is referring to the software from Porsche which includes prices?).

Much more useful electronically than on paper, as you can search eg by part number (or just fragment of number) or description (eg you know you're looking for a particular vacuum actuator so just type in "vacuum" and you get a list of all such actuators. Clickiung on each takes you straight to relevant page/diagram.

I often print out the drawing of a particular part to check order of nuts, washers etc but 99% of the time I'm viewing it on the computer.

Recently I've seen a few complete sets of manuals go for around £150 on eBay. The wsm is flawed - loads of detail in some areas, frustratingly little or none in others - so again I'm happy to have a CD version to browse through. If I really need particular pages in garage then I'll print them out. The best versions compiled by Jim Morehouse are sold in the UK by John Speake. Very high quality scans and many technical bulletins included, as well as the all-important wiring diagrams. many owners like to have printed and electronic versions depending on what they need them for.

If you want to know the opc price just type the number in on the Design911 site. It only takes first 8 digits but it's easy to spot part you want from the list of matching items it returns.

:( Sadly I missed these, I had them in my watch list and thought I'd see what they went to before decidind whether or not to bid. Sod's law I got called away and missed the end of the auction and they went for £150.00, doh! :(

It was interesting that they only had 3 bids, and what turned out to be the winning £150 bid was placed about a week before auction ended.

My conclusion is that £150 is top whack for what someone would pay for what looked like a bang up-to-date set of manuals in excellent condition.

However the Jim Morehouse CD (available from John Speake I believe) of the set also includes loads of technical bulletins and updates which are not on the Cannell site.

EDIT:
I just checked eBay and another set went for a single bid of £400 a few weeks ago, so my assessment of £150 as top price looks pretty dumb!

I think its hit and miss what they go for. I keep a pretty close eye on them and have seen several sets (including one set unused in the original box) sell for £150. Then now and again they hit £300 plus!

I looked at that auction but microfiche struck me as too 1960s! What's the advantage of viewing with a fiche reader compared with viewing a CD?
