like many my digital clock doesn't work and I was wondering if anyone has successfully repaired one seeing as tho they're ridiculously expensive to replace.

No. Mine doesn't work either. But it cant be too dificult to get a cheap digital alarm clock & slot it in the hole. Need to get the old one out & go to the market! It's really not worth the money to buy a proper one & there all 20 years old anyway.

i filled the hole left by mine using a filed down screw cover, then bought a 968 analogue clock off ebay and fitted it under the stereo, job done

I took one with a broken screen and another with a broken bulb holder and salvaged enough parts from the two to make one perfectly functioning clock. Fiddly as anything, but well worth it.

All sorts of things go wrong with them. I believe the LCD screen 'bleeding' is most common though. Either from being poked or from heat/light exposure.
