Hi,

I think i have a leak as my coolant level keeps going down (oil/plugs ok)

I have an inspection tomorrow (Belgium import stuff) so want to make sure its topped off. My problem is that the level is so low and the chamber so yellow that i cant see what my mechanic put in recently. Today i bought some from my local opc (its purple) can i put it in without any worries?

Thanks

Graham

Perhaps you could roll up a bit of kitchen roll or something and dip it in and see what colour its is. I think if you mix them up it can turn to jelly. No first hand experience of this, but it is what I read. Best to avoid that happening.

 Don't mix it. So many different types these days. Find out whats in or replace the lot. Take off your expansion tank & clean it. I replaced mine & its great seeing where the level is without getting burned!

Quite agree, I'd add some straight, preferably distilled water & then drain & replace the coolant when you have time.

Find a dealer near you who sells Prestone Antifreeze. Their antifreeze has been confirmed to work with both types of coolant. Failing that, flush and refilling is the alternative way.

Otherwise, ask your mechanice what he used?

As Jim said Drain and refill when you have the time.
It is the sure and safe way.

i'd have a go at finding the leak first as with winter coming along you will have to top up with anti-freeze/water mix
