I need a new vacuum check valve, the little blue/black plastic one that keeps vacuum pressure in the HVAC system.

The Porsche dealer parts guy could not find it, ordered what he thought was the one, but it was wrong. Can somebody tell me what the valve is "officially" called, or what the part number is?

I've just looked in PET and the valve shows on one of the diagrams, but is not annotated. PET has some omissions.

Looking at a purchase invoice in my records it's p/n 843 820 675, described as "check valve vacuum"

There's another part that the dealer could not locate on their system. There are 5 spring steel Z shaped brackets under the front bumper, where the undertray screws on. These are locating brackets for the front bumper trailing edge under the front of the car. Clearly they are spring steel so they don't deform if you hit a low curb etc with the front spoiler.

Three of mine are missing, although the mountings for them are fine.

Dealer is being dozy as they are in PET, illustration 802-10 1991 (Front Spoiler):

There are only 3 z-brackets - the front undertray has 3 centre holes to attach to brackets, but two outer arms screw into holes on underside (though both arms missing from my front undertray!)

Should cost about £5 each.

Thanks once again. You mean the outer arms on the undertray at the sides? I have these as I just fitted a new undertray. I imagine the first misjudged speed hump would be an end to them though.

There are 5 mounting brackets across the front chassis (well, looks like the locating crossmember for the bottom of the radiator) and I take it the outer two are not used if there are only 3 brackets shown.

Just checked with Porsche dealer.

The valve is "no longer available from Porsche" and the little Z shaped brackets are £15 EACH! That's just blatent profeteering in my book.
Not bothered about the brackets, I can make some from spring steel, but the valve is more of an issue.
I'll have to see if I can find an alternative.

Can you give me the part number of the rubber T-piece located near the valve? I'd better order one of those before they become obsolete!

Ah the joy of finding 928 parts. Always worth snapping up available parts just in case and if cheap. Yesterday won brand new abs sensor on ebay for £20, compared with over £100 list.

928 International have Porsche brackets for $8.50 each (compares with UK price $24.75 - welcome to rip-off Britain) and just bought blue/black from them for $15 (now wish I hadn't ebayed the old working one if they are now NLA from Porsche). If you order a few parts together then more than makes up for shipping. Or try brilliant Roger Tyson 928srus.com for similarly outstanding service.

The 4 way vac splitter is 117 078 00 45, $4.50 from 928 Intl.

Now I recall you're correct re undertray. 2 arms and 5 screws but only 3 of the screws attach to z-brackets. Just speed nuts for outer two I think. The arms on tray on previous car lasted fine, but they are missing on current car. About the only point where old one trumps it!

Oh I nearly bid on that ABS sensor But I fixed my ABS just in time.... though I didn't realise it was that much of a bargain... now if only I could find an original S4 spark plug tool

Is the S4 spark plus tool the same as the S2?

I don't know if the S4 tool is different form the S2, that's why I was specific, just in case, all I know is I didn't get any with my car and I haven't managed to get a plug out using a standard socket one.

I don't find the tool that useful but handy to have for emergencies I suppose. Can't use it for some cylinders because of things in the way, and when installing plugs I prefer to use torque wrench to set correct torque. Plugs are faff on S4 though, and I can't change all of them without various extensions, socket and universal joint.

See them on fleabay every once in a while, and I won't be bidding when one comes up!

I've never had one fail, but can always sell it on I suppose if I never use it.

Shipping was $30 but still cheaper than buying in the UK, plus the valve is "obsolete" here.

If you hadn't phoned what they do with international orders is to email you within hours of placing the order with costs for different shipping options, and ask for your preference.

You've saved $65 just on the brackets so you're still quids (dollars?) in. If they use US post then you have to pay the VAT here and a clearance charge before the package is released to you by. If you've opted for a courier then they invoice you for VAT after delivery.
