After yesterdays fun with the fellow 944 turbo driver on the M4, i ordered a new bonnet badge for my car.
It arrived this morning, but i have no idea how to fit it.

From memory the badge has two metal clips that hold it on via two pins on the back.
How can these be accessed on a 944 T?

I fear that it maybe a nose badge panel removal.

Oh and i was careful to buy the one correct for my year of manufacture, although i cant tell that much of a difference.

I hope you like removing screws. You need to pop the bonnet up and remove all the screws along the top of the badge panel. Then you need to pop up the headlights and remove the screws normally hidden by the lights. Then I think theres a couple of horizontal screws to remove on either side of the badge panel which are a tw#t to get at. You can then remove the badge panel. You might want to replace you're air filter at the same time as that is where it lives. Kill 2 birds with 1 stone.

The air filter only resides there on S2s. On a Turbo the intercooler is there and the air filter is under the bonnet.
Generally the badge can be carefully pulled off from the top.

Managed to do just that on mine. I was a bit nervous with a couple of screwdrivers that close to the paint but it was pretty easy.

Don;t go near it with screwdrivers buy some heavy duty fishing line about 50 lb breaking strain wear some gloves then make a couple of loops to go around and underneath the badge top and bottom keep pulling gently each side at a time and it should pop off the pins are located at the outer centre of the badge.

Fair point Jim, but what about us S2 drivers where the air filter is under the front cowling? .

Only takes 5 mins to change an air filter on a Turbo
Though i do like S2's well i like all 944's as it happens, back to the original question screwdrivers near paintwork is asking for grief

Good tip that! But you see I had a nice new shiney badge, no fishing line and the eagerness of a ten year old to get it on the car!

Hum, Ok so with the fishing line i can prize off the badge? But wont the backing plugs fall into the car?

and how will i get teh new badge to stay without the backing plugs?

On mine the plugs were plastic and fitted like little rawl plugs from the top of the panel. They just stayed in the panel when I pulled the badge off.

Just use the plugs as Dave described. Don't be trempted to stick it
Better for the badge to come off easily or some little angel will maim the panel trying to nick it.

Thanks for the help gang.

I decided to take the badge panel off to make sure i did the job properly.
I followed Clarks garage thread. However it wouldn't come off.
I spent 1 hour tugging at it and shining torches through holes. Eventually Mrs Rav came to the rescue and spotted two further retaining screws -

Panel came off and i replaced the bonnet badge and gasket.



also saw how the cold air feed direct to the intercooler would work. I guess you remove the black plastic shroud altogether?
