Hi All

Has anyone used Autofarm over Nr Oxford before, I am looking at getting my S2 clutch done there as they seem to be on the ball and up front with the costs. They also have a flat bed which you can hire to collect your money pit

Due to the cost of the work it would be nice to have some feed back

Autofarm generally have a decent rep but I didn't think were always very competitve - perhaps I'm wrong.
My impression of them is that they tend to do work on more exotic machinery and may not see a 944 very often! They do good 996 engine rebuilds I've heard.
If the price is ok I doubt you'll go too far wrong.
Its a bit further but you could come to Steve Bulls in Devizes then it will be done properly for sure.

Never heard of Autofarm doing 944s TBH. In that area I'd be looking to the outfit in Cheddington whose name escapes me at the mo.

I think they are called http://www.essentialstyling.com/contact.htm SAR? Simon has been around 944s for a long time.

I used them a long time ago and it cost me a fortune. Depends on your outlook but they quoted to change the waterpump on my 86 944 and broke a couple of studs or bolts (cant remember which) and charged me what at the time seemed a massive chunk of cash to repair on top of agreed quote. However you could argue this was fair? I am talking 12 years ago so things could have changed since.

I think the above happened to Mark as well on a g'box rebuild.

The lot Jim is referring to are called RPM but again good and bad stories.

I know they are there but as you say tend to be high end air cooled stuff. May be worth wandering over though.

I live in Silverstone and have had an eary 944 turbo for six or so years and have used Autofarm, Promax and RPM for different jobs. I have found them all pretty straight up and easy to deal with but yes often the jobs end up costing more than quoted but I think that is the nature of an old well used car.

Autofarm have a rep for classic 911's but there is a guy there called Mark who is a 944 genius and has done some really good work on my car. Also the access driveway is great for doing timed 1/4 mile standing starts!!

I've also used both RPM in Cheddington and Promax at Milton Keynes and can highly recommend both of them

Been talking to ProMax, they seem to be more 44 than the others which is starting to swing it for me, they currently have a 4 week lead time which can't be a bad thing.

Just got to sort out the quoted £850 -£1,000 +vat money side of things for the new clutch

well soon be Christmas :bigsmurf: but not in this house
