A change of car for Wifey means we no longer have a family sized car so unfortunately the 944 S2 must go shortly to make some space on the drive for something else.

I'm going to have the front end sprayed to get rid of all the stone chips first and I'll get Porscheshop to check everything over before she goes to a new home. Anything advised will be sorted prior to sale.

The question is what sort of price to ask when I sell?

Its a 1990 car in Zyclam red (pearl effect) with full leather interior. 182k miles

Fitted with sports seats and Sound pack option

Everything works and the old girl still has the grunt when required.

Belts, tensioner gear were replaced in April 2008 along with brake discs and braided hoses were fitted at the same time.

All fuel lines have been replaced and stainless steel back box fitted in last 12 months.

Full geometry set up by Center Gravity in April 2009

Porscheshop induction kit fitted in August 2009 and car MOT'd until August 2010 (sailed through again).

She's sitting on Continental Sport Contact N1 tyres (rears replaced September 2009)

Thoughts?

I hate to say it but I'd price it up at £4k and be willing to come down a little from there (possibly down to 3k).

depends how desperate you are to sell, £4k sounds about right

I agree I had takers on my 1991 S2 with a lot less miles and similar service history at £4250 so £4K or just under sounds right to sell although not right for the car, just the times we live in.

Hello, new to the forum, just popped over from PorscheGB.

I heard you were selling your S2 and had to have a look.

This will be my first porsche (I've had beetles and campers before but fancied something reliable and a little quicker).

I have resently sold my camper so have a bit of cash about.

I've been looking around at S2s under £3500 and they all seem to be lacking in some way or another (poor interiors or lack of history etc.) and placed in the far corners of the uk

There doesn't really seem to be any that i've seen that have jumped out as a safe bet (until i read your description) and for this 'safty' I'd be willing to fork out a bit more cash.

Maybe we could sort something out.....?

Where abouts are you based and do you have any photos?

Sorry didn't mean to seem too kean just then, only it's refreshing to finally see a good example that might come on the market for a reasonable price.

Miles dont matter. In fact more is better. 4K should do it even in todays market. Its the one everybody wants & in short supply in this condition. If your looking for an s2 under 3.5 your going to buy a money pit!

I'm not desperate to sell at all - I love the car - but realistically there will come a point where
I will need a family sized car so I'm looking around for something.

In the meantime I will see my mate about blowing the front end because it lets the car down and let Porscheshop check her over for any remedials. When I do sell over the next couple of months I want her to go to an enthusiast and know that everything needed has been sorted

yes ,i decided to go mad for 6 months as a sabattical. but if there area any tones to be lowered I am here and ready

I am now a bit of an expert in the "backside method", which I will explain if you ask.

Good, clean, honest well maintained examples are hard to find, so don't give it away.

I'd agree with you J.J normally, but the fact is that the way a number of people (including forum members) go on about S2s, you would have thought that they would ground to a halt exploding completely if you drove them anything more than a mile ever... (A search will prove that. Apparently, on any S2, the chain will snap, the Brembos plates will lift and be impossible to repair etc etc.).

It's a shame really as they are solid cars that now are getting quite low in numbers. Look anywhere on most Porker sites and they seem to insinuate that you should avoid an S2 and go for a 2.5 or a 2.7 (despite the fact that the 2.7 valves cost a small fortune and that other parts are unique to it (moreso than the S2 to its relatives).

IMO the problems are largely unfounded and only really likely to be found on a very rough example and most of the time, they can be fixed with a bit of time and two neurones rubbed together (e.g, Brembo plate lift). It's funny the Boxster doesn't come under the same criticisms despite its shortcomings.

Try and hold out for £4k if you can, but it depends on how quick you need rid of the car.

Not in a huge rush, just waiting for the right car to come along. Thinking I might wait and see what happens here. Just hope I havn't spent all my money.
