PM's Stuck in Outbox

Hello,

I have replied to a few PM's and they are sitting in my outbox, is this normal? I sent a few a few days ago which seemed to go straight to my sent items.

Aha, having googled this now.

Am I right in assuming the PM stays in my outbox until the recipient reads it? At which point it will move to my sent messages?

I think this is what happens too. I thought it looked odd, but seems to be working.
