Copy of my Pcgb post..

Hi All :)

Just paid John Speake (928 Electronics Guru - http://www.jdsporsche.com/) for a LH chip which will remove my 6375 rev limit and raise it to 9710.

The reason I am doing this is that when I go for my 200 mph plus runs I do NOT want the car to hit the rev limiter as on a 928 that leans out the fuel and when running huge quantities of Nitrous , a lean engine would equal a HUGE bang

When my 1000 HP system is fitted I will be running an extra 8 Venom fuel injectors (1 for each plenum leg) so extra fuel = good , not enough fuel = bad....lol

All the best Brett :)

so if the leaness of the fuel doesn't cause the HUGE bang i suspect the 9710 rpm might

Hi :)

I'm sure it would lol...

But hopefully I will hit around 7000 maximum, that equates to 235 mph....lol

All the best Brett :)

Hi :)

Well hopefully not any bang...

Think of it this way...and bottom end is standard...

If I was driving my car normally, any 928 is capable of 160 mph plus...

So for around 40 or 50 seconds I am asking it to run at 60 mph more...

Doesn't sound so bad now lol ??

Nitrous is very strange stuff which is hard to explain to someone who does not use it...hmmmm....think like the kiddie cartoons....its like someone has lit a rocket at the back of the car , and whoosh...suddenly you are accelerating like you never have, and your speedo suddenly looks like your rev counter as its rotating so fast....

Not a great explanation but you are welcome to a ride if you ever see me, then its easier to understand :)

All the best Brett :)

That will need to be on a blumming long bit of straight.

Here's the maths bit :drunken:

At 60mph more than 160mph you will be covering a mile every 17 seconds, do that for 50 seconds and you will have covered three miles on top of the distance it already took to get to 160mph.

Then you will need some distance to open the parachute and stop to receive our applause

Hi :)

Sorry but your maths are slightly incorrect.....when I am at 160...a few seconds later I will be at 170..then 180 and so on....

Total distance to reach 200 plus then stop is around 2 miles with a rolling start of around 70 to 90 mph...

I didn't phrase it very well in the earlier post...that 40 to 50 seconds is the time for the TOTAL run.....from 70/90 mph to 200 plus...

All the best Brett :)

so how much road do you need including the rolling start at between 70 and 90 mph

Just enough to reach the last bend and go round the corner onto the main runway at 70 to 90 ish...then 2 miles...

All the best Brett :)

Hi All :)

Just fitted the new LH chip from John Speake (thanks John) which has the 9710 limit...

Took the revs up slowly 1000 revs at a time until 6375 (where limit was previously) then in 200 rev chunks until I hit 7200 ,where I could just about hear the valves starting to float and held it there for around 10 seconds then shut it down and all fine :) :) :)

I "think" it would probably run at higher revs than 7200 for a "short period" but wont risk it until my actual 200 mph plus runs.....lol

I dont think I will need to anyway as 7200 equates to around 235 mph

But you never know.........

All the best Brett :)
