Hi all can anyone help me out with a wiper snag. The wipers will intermitant wipe even when the stalk is in the off position. I have removed the relay which leaves me with the 2 speeds but no intermitant or park feature. I got a load of parts off a 944 which was being scrapped yesterday and today changed one at a time the relay, stalk and motor but the problem is still there....any ideas? Ok i've also got a big dent in my badge panel but i can't get it off, screws along the top and two bolts for the wings......what am i missing ? Cheers Kev.

Hi,

Can't help with the wipers. Someone will be along in a minute that does.

I think to get the badge panel off, you also need to put the pop up head lamps on. I think there are a number of screw in the recess which the lights sit in. Correct me if I'm wrong. I think it makes changing the air filter a bit of a dog job if you ask me.

The wiper problem is normally the intermittent relay, bit confused, sure the relay is correct & OK?

The badge panel is a row of screws across the top, pop headlights, 2 x 10mm nuts each side & a 10mm nut across onto the wing.

You have realised that the "off" position for the wipers is not the most downward position for the stalk haven't you?
(Please forgive me if you know this already, but I know that most modern cars are now up for everything and the lowest position on the stalk is off!)

Wiper stalk positions are;

Off,
Up one for first speed
Up two for second speed
Up three for third speed (if you have one)

Or,
Off
Down one for intermitant

All constantly one wiper speeds are up from off and intermitant is down.

Thanks all i had not realised about the off position but i tried it in all positions and it still wipes intermitantly in the off position. Just tried the headlamp washers and the pump isn't working so i'm wondering if it's related, the relay was out of a scrapper so it might be fubar, just to set my mind at rest the relay has the marking 477 955 531a ige601.387 12v if some one wouldn't mind checking theirs.
Badge panel, have undone the screws, taken the bolts out of the wings, the bolts in the headlight pod are not there just two holes in each where they might have been once but it still wont budge. Where the screws at the top are it feels like it is welded to the panel underneath......or am i looking in the wrong place?
Cheers for the help Kev

This is a face lift 944 isn't it? The early cars had a welded on badge panel.

There are also two screws (one either side), that screws into the wings

Thanks for the link, have done as it says but it aint coming off, in fact its f***in solid. It's an early 85 944 with a square dash, is it possible that it has both the screws and spot welds holding it on ?

That is an early car & will have a welded on panel unless someone has drilled out the spot welds.
