 Post subject: Can I buy my "top up" fluids from Halfords etc..?

Hi All, Can I buy general top up fluids from the likes of Halfords etc..or is it better buy from specialists etc.. Cheers Rob :?:

As long as it's the correct grade/type of fluid then why not if that's the most convenient store?

Of course, depending on how choosy you are you may find they don't stock the right type of oil :roll:

I tend to buy from my local factors. Check pricing Halfords are B...dy expensive on some stuff. Try without pushing to much to use your TIPEC card to get a Halfords discount card, some managers will let you have one if they get the business others won't. This will give as Factor or better pricing a lot of the time.

As always be wary of Motor factors ripping you off. I once went into a motor factors being quoted £150 for a Gates Belt kit and QH water pump on the Peugeot 306 TD. It was £10 cheaper for me to go to Peugeot to get genuine bits of superior quality or GSF (£60 cheaper) where again the pumps would be of superior quality and the belts being an OE manufacturer (Dayco) despite not being the same OE part (but then the Gates part hardly is...).

Nowadays I tend to use Unipart and GSF but I have known the guys quite a while now.
