I think I know where you're coming from. I got rid of the original Blaupunkt cassette player (it's probably in the loft somewhere) and put in a Blaupunkt Hawaii DJ51. It was a nice bit of kit, cassette player behind a flip down front panel, and it can take a number of cd changers. However I never got round to fitting a CD changer, so in the end I put the Hawaii into the loft with the other one and installed a Blaupunkt Santa Cruz MP36. Another good bit of kit as it plays MP3 CDs, so I have about seventy albums in the car on six CDs.

Now your post has made me go to the loft and get the Hawaii out and I'm considering searching ebay for a changer - this is because I have about 300 albums on tape, most of them from 1978 to early nineties. I'm afraid I'm that guy who still buys tapes from the charity shops!

So, answer to your question... buy a cassette player and a cd changer - best of both worlds.

Jim will be on in a bit and tell us he has one of those old portable record players in his car that only plays James Bond theme tunes

Just binned a large box of 70's & 80's tapes funnily enough  Even my womble of a neighbour who can flog anything on his car boot stall on a Sunday reckoned there was no market for cassettes.
And the 944 has a state of the art H&B CA-5555 unit in which plays all forms of CD including MP3 ones & USB & MMC cards  The damp got in it last year so it is a bit cranky & really needs replacement. The reason why, don't forget four years ago when I bought it,it was my daily driver & did 38K in 18 months. A 4 hour drive to Leeds would have been grim without decent music to listen to.

Absolutely, as someone who was at school during that decade, it feels "right" to have music from the 80's (with all the nostalgic associations) playing when driving an 80's car. Having said that, my 928 has aged a lot better than much of the pop music from that period  and I do listen to more up-to-date stuff as well.

Most of my cassettes went bad so it's just CDs for me now (haven't found the need for this mp3 thing yet).

Hi everyone (a newbie here)

I sold her a few months ago now but I only ever listened to pre-1960's music in my '65 Chevy truck, i bought copies of radio shows from the era with adverts and jingles (cruizin' series) .... it's the only way to go.
