Car looks superb - congrats!

Look forward to seeing it in metal at an event soon, and meeting you Rob.

Was at "another Porsche club's" event today in Oxfordshire. Only about 6 928s there so relatively rare. Great to see new owners here.

Hi there, I just bought a 928 off ebay last week, How are you getting on with yours? Any faults to sort out? I knew nothing about 928's a month ago so it's a steep learning curve for me! I've already done some jobs though, such as the flex plate.

Hi, well I dont think so..so far... I've only done about 70 miles at the weekend gave it a good clean and polish and checked the fluids etc. Enjoying the car and getting to know it..ive had a few classics in my time.. and I'm always a bit cautious before I've "driven" them. I wish you well with your 928..would love to see a pic of the car, how are you finding things? Cheers Rob

Well, the car I bought is OK. It has not been used for 4 years so just needs using. The cam belt needs checking, although it's had a new one, and the previous owner did a full service recently. The interior is good, seats show only minor wear, bodywork is unmarked, and I actually have working air conditioning!
There are some jobs to do. I've ordered a new air filter, and the sump gasket needs replacing. The engine undertray is broken (new one on order), the shift lever is broken, and there's no stereo. (just bought a Sony off ebay) but apart from that it seems fine. Oh, and I waxoyled it at the weekend. Not that there was any corrosion. The previous owner said he waxoyled it when he got it a few years ago, which can't be a bad thing.

The headlamp adjusters don't work. It's had new ones in the past but they appear to have only lasted 3 years....they must be a weak design. I won't be replacing them! And the flappy vent things behind the front grille don't ever move. I'll see if I can sort those out.

Hi Did you use a particular underseal as I have "chips" in the wheel arches, especially on the front..also the fuel tank/pump guard(I thinks thats what it is!) could do with a wire bush and maybe some underseal? I wasnt sure if I should give them a light brushing and underseal to smarten them up or not? Would it look like im trying to hide something etc... Cheers Rob :?

I just use clear waxoyl. It makes parts look better if they have surface rust or furring. It does not hide anything as it is clear....I would not use the black waxoyl.
I apply it to suspension components with a paint brush, as you don't want it anywhere near the brakes.
