Probably a question for Ben after his all Torque write-up.

One arm of the sunroof lifts giving me an open but tilted roof the other is not engaged and just sits at its closed position.

On trying to close neither move at all (no motor noise either) and it has to be manually closed.

Any pointers?

Rich

Sounds like a stripped gear to me & a partially stripped one. That is what mine was doing.

I would agree with Jim. On our 1986 Lux the gears had both striped AND the cable needed feeding back too.

hi, that happend to mine last week...it was the left one that stripped...and the cable came out...refitted the cable, fitted a new gear, it went up and down a few times..then the right side stopped working..stripped left gear again and cable out..it turned out to be the top micro switch was out of line...the best way i did it was to take the 2 arms out and operate it till i got both micro switches to work as they should..it is also better if there is to of you one at the motor end and one on the switch that way you can see what is going on...all o.k. know

Phil

I have the same problem in that the cable has come out. How did you go about setting the cable position.?

Hi,

I did say in the article that I can service and repair anaesthetic machines more easily than the sunroof operates!

I quite agree! I apprnticed in aircraft electrics & electronics & I couldn't design a more complex sunroof operation system if I tried!

**%?><** sunroof is a pain in the ....

If the roof was in, it will lift and drop fine. The problem I have when pushing the raise button with the ignition at pos 1 the cable retracts beyond the home position i.e beyond when the microswitch 11 makes.
Have checked the microswitch position and switching all is OK.

I guess my problem is a relay, but which one? answers on a postcard.
