i have tried this off clarkes but can sem to feel anything behind the hole in the rear hub. is it a ratchet (like the old ford cortina mk 3 for instance) or is it a slot screw head cam? does the hole need to be at 12 0'clock or 6 o'clock?
any advice would be appreciated.

Adjusting the Parking Brake (off clarkes garage)

Release the parking brake lever and verify that the rear wheel can be turned easily by hand.
Insert a screwdriver into the hole in the rear wheel hub and turn the brake adjuster until the rear wheel can not be turned.
Next turn the adjuster in the opposite direction until the wheel can be turned easily.
Lift the carpet next to the parking brake lever to expose the adjusting nuts on the end of the parking brake cable.
Loosen the locknut at the bottom of the adjusting yoke and adjust the two nuts on either side of the adjusting yoke collar until the rear wheel can be barely turned with the parking brake lever raised two clicks.
Ensure both adjusting nuts are tightened against the adjusting yoke collar and tighten the locknut against the rear adjusting nut.
Replace the carpeting around the parking brake lever.

Ok the adjuster is at 12 o'clock on the backplate. It is a horizontal screw thread with a nut around 12mm on it with serrated edges. You lever vertically against the serrations. Easiest way if you can is pop the disc off & check A. how it works & B. whether it is free to move. On mine the first I tried was seized solid & I couldn't work out how it all happened. Lightly grease the adjustment thread whilst freeing it up. Once it is free open the linings out until the disc JUST slides over & then that just leaves a few clicks of adjustment left.

best way i have found is to adjust till disc is locked, then back two...

imagine the adjuster as a star, your clickin the pointy bits around.
