Rusted wheel arch and sill

Post by Brucey »

Hi all, just wondering about how to go about repairing my well rusted wheel arch and sill on my 944s (white) Is it right that a standard bogging and spraying wont be good enough as the rust will come back through and if that is the case what sort of time scale of it resurfacing are we talking? If I do have to get it cut away and a piece welded in its place are we talking big money? Also is it a job i could do myself as I have been watching too many episodes of wheeler dealers and would love to give it a try, if not can anyone recomend someone? Thank you.

Rear wheel arches are double skinned. Only proper way is to cut out the rust & replace with new steel. It's a skilled job & probably not somthing to learn on. The sills are at least flat & you can get repair panels. But it will depend how bad it is once the outer is removed. I'd try any local bodyshop with a good reputation & see what they say. Some not so busy now thanks to the colapse in car values. Sounds like at least 1K & could be 2. Waste of money unless it's done properly.
