3rd party 944 ?
Yes I know it seems crazy at first, but given the low values of the 944s at the moment and therefore borderline repair / scrap decisions we hear about does anyone insure their 944 third party ?

Now thats interesting.I had two cars writtenoff. The first was fully comp and as soon as you claim you have to send all your docs to them. The car then belongs to them. You can put in a bid to buy it back but you dont get any preference even though its your car.So i lost the first one.The second one was TPF&T and that was going to be written off as well but I argued that as it needed two new doors(side impact) and it wasnt a new car anyway two secondhand doors would do.They had put two new doors in at £500 and i knew i could get them for £25 each.So they made me an offer of£900. I haggled and got £950.The whole job cost me £350 and I kept that car for another three years.I would be interested to know what quotes would be available cos as you say the values of 944s are low and if the insurers get their parts prices from opcs then it wont take much of a bang to write a 944 off!! As we all know there are plenty of places where we can get doors wings etc.

Exactly what grates me - I put hard graft into saving for the car and although I have only had it 12 months i have become very attached to it so I damned if some money-grabbing insurance firm is getting it
Although as said above I would probably lose the glass cover and agreed valuation
hmm

My '44 is my only car. It's insured fully comp & agreed value for £300 through Footman James. A standard policy even third party would be more than that. Cheaper on a classic policy. Sold my last sports due to insurance costs.

Audi 2.0 TDI Good but rather boring..........

Mine's been on a classic policy for the last 12 months too. Can't complain at £450 for 7500 miles/yr and an agreed valuation of £5k.J.J. wrote:My '44 is my only car. Yes mine is on a classic car policy too.5000 miles ,agreed value £3500.£142 with Heritage.I think that you just have to accept that in some circumstances, depending on damage you would be better not claiming and fix it yourself with secondhand parts. For instance I think Porsche want about £3500 for a tailgate which you can pick up for about £100/£150.After the first write off I was so annoyed at the figure they gave me as well as the way I was treated that I resolved to only pay the very minimum for insurance which is how I came to be on TPF&T when the second one got hit. That time I managed to come out on top but both times I had to argue and fight them!

i posted this on pistonheads, i friend of mine had a 924 and some scrote put a brick thro' the tailgate, insurance wrote car off after he sent his 2 quotes in, he bought a second hand tailgate (for i think about £100) and asked if he could retract his claim which they duly allowed thus his car was no longer cat D
