Bit of a hike down country but I'm a Jon Mitchell and team convert personally, customers come from all over UK and abroad to see him. http://www.jmgarage.com/ He's Mr 944 for me and will give an honest helpful opinion and see things others miss. He's got a black S2 cabby exactly like yours that he's restoring at his workshop right now.

After a blast mine is down to 3 at tickover. But you need lots when running under load so sounds good to me.
If you want a proper check I know JM garage in Bournmouth are good. Not too far from you.
They pull best 100+ :)

If you call 90 miles and a 2 hour drive each way "not to far". I find it's an excellent trip back home though each time I visit Jon :bounce:

Thanks for the lovely comments. :D
I'm looking to find a porsche specialist in my area who is reccommended as opposed to dont touch with a barge pole! so I know who to call when things go belly up !
I have found a few problems I think with the car (to be expected)
Firstly the oil pressure stays between 4 and 5 even on a long journey, I'm not sure if this is a problem but the books say it should be between 2-3.
Secondly the electric hood it not operating along with the central locking and alarm. A good car electrician should hopefully be able to sort this out or would it be better to just take it to someone to have a whole new alarm system put on which would include the central locking?
I would like someone who has a whole lot more knowlage than me to have a look at the car to make sure its safe! and try to avoid any major future headaches by attending to problems now. Any ideas would be greatfully received.

Thanks

Neil

Oil pressure is OK at 4-5Bar which is 60-75PSI. The old racing rule of thumb is 10psifor every 1000RPM & it has served me well over the years.
I think the book says 2-3 Minimum. I don't think the gauges are too accurate anyway. A lot will depend on which oil it is running.

You're in good hands with Jon and team, you might even see my car down there having a few bits done. Washer jets clog up really quickly. I cleaned mine a year ago when I first got my 944 and they're clogged again. Jon's got some additive to put in the washer tank once you've cleaned the jets out, I dismantled mine and used a pin to clean the gunk out.

Happy Porsching and I guarantee the trip back from the South Coast will be very enjoyable :D

Andy

Very nice, the black spokes will go well with your black body colour but is the offset to low for the rear wheels for a 944? I'm not sure maybe someone else can confirm. They look similar to my split rims except I picked mine up for half of that price from JMGarage. Ask Jon if he's got any wheels available when you're down there, he might have to go down to one of his storage units to have a look though  He's got my original turbo s wheels because I left them down there. He can also order brand new wheels if you want. Word of warning :!: If going to 18" then it's recommended upgrading to 968 castor mounts and getting a 4 wheel alignment. From memory they were £65 each side + hour's labour. An alignment was about £28 if I remember rightly, it was only round the corner from Jon's so took car myself to save a bit of labour cost's. Just looked at his mods page £175 for castor mounts fitted.
Another word of warning :!: Once you start upgrading wheels it's a slippery slope to modifying the rest of the car

Just been out to check my sizes and they're ET47 front tyre size 225/40 ZR18 and ET53 rear tyre size 265/35 ZR18 if that helps and means anything to anyone.

don't forget to tell your insurance company if you change your wheels as its classed as a modification, and they don't really need an excuse not to pay out !!!

Good point Lindsay! Tell me about it. Had to resend a new set of photos when I changed wheels and I've got to send another set now because I've added the rear spoiler and I've got the exhaust and engine upgrades soon :blackeye: DOH!

ET 47 should be OK on a post 87 car, might need a shim spacer but they aren't a lot of money.

Thanks for all the comments. I have done a drastic thing and cleared out my garage such is the love I have for my new car !!!!!!!
I think I'm gonna wait before I dive in with the new wheels, I want to wait until I've been to Jon garage incase I'm in for some major nastys!
I just wanted to say also that whilst driving last week a guy in a 944 gave me a thumbs up but I was a bit slow on the uptake so if that was you sorry !!
