Having just returned from holiday in Italy, one of the few things I was impressed with about Italian driving standards was the widespread use of headlights at all times. I gather that an EU directive makes daylight running lights compulsory on new vehicles, but does anyone know whether the 996 (MY2000) can be adapted in such a way? I guess you might either make the headlights come on whichever position the switch was in, or leave the switch in the "on" position but turn the headlights off be turned off when the ignition is off (and suppress the bong!). If you think about it, its pretty dumb to have them wired to stay on without the key in the ignition, as there is a specific switch position for "parking lights" anyway.

Personal thing is I don't like DTRL. They hide pedestrians, cyclists & motorcyclists. I had the ones on the Volvo years ago turned off.
I understand that the later Porks can be turned on through the ECU, so may need someone with a Bosch Hammer or similar.

PS Haven't seen you at a eeting for a while Simon
