Hi all,
Some of you might remember that I was looking around for a place to have the roof of my 911 Targa re-done. The roof was the original one, with 18 years of folding/unfolding and had started to show its age; the foam between the roof liner and the aluminium frame had started to disintegrate and the liner was hanging down:

So, last week I took her to Surrey Trimmers in Addlestone. They did a great job - I am very impressed, especially with the inside. In terms of cost, they were exactly half the price quoted by Southbound.
They had a variety of interesting cars in the workshop: a DB7, a brand new Bentley which was in for some custom leather (I think they do quite a bit of work for dealers) , an E-Type, and an "Al-Capone" style 30s sedan which was stripped down to metal for some serious restoration, I guess.
Here are some pics of the new roof:

I arrived early to pick up the car and they apologised that they had not yet washed and polished the car before I walked in!
I am very pleased with it.

Looks really good. I will try them for my 928 seats I want retrimed. Had a scary quote from Southbound as well so would be pleased if they could do that for half the price!

Material looks the same as original?

Regards
Paul

As far as I can tell, it looks identical. The only difference is that the padding now feels much thicker, but that's probably because the old one had deteriorated.
There was also some reduction in noise at speeds around to 70 mph - I guess that's because the front lip of the roof sits lower now.
They had lots of seats for re-trimming in the workshop. Their web site is www.surreytrimming.co.uk.

They quoted me £475+VAT for each of the 944 seats replicating the burgundy vinyl/pinstripe that they have at the moment.

I was thinking of doing away with the original material on my seats and getting them done in leather, perhaps black on the outside with cream in the middle.

Don't suppose anybody who has had that kind of work done before could give me a rough idea on cost?
