Hoping you can make Poole Quay as well on the 21st Aug.

Extra burgers for the 23rd Aug Southern BBQ are on the list!

Here is my car. It's relatively standard bar 996 Cup wheels (I though Boxsters until I saw the part number), Cup Mirrors, and braided brake lines. It's a great car, but it needs an engine problem attending to. Still, it's an absolute hoot to drive:

Here's my latest toy - a 1989 Porsche 944 S2, aka Smokey, The Red Shed.

Bought yesterday for not a lot of money, has 180,000 miles on the clock and smokes like a gulf fire. Marcus followed me back from Aylesbury to Daventry (in his non-smoking, minty mint mint S2) and almost died of carbon monoxide poisoning. By the time I got back Greenpeace had started a campaign against me - it's burned a hell of a lot of oil.

Advertised as "rust free", which meant I wasn't charged extra for it. Also told the electric sunroof works, but only if you operate it manually. Classy.

Was told the roof had faded orange in the sun - two hours of t-cut and polish prove that actually, no, some fool just painted it the wrong colour.

However, has had one previous owner and a full Porsche history up to 160k and then serviced by a specialist after that. Gear box, brakes and clutch seem ok and it is still very fast. It looks lovely, as long as you don't stand any closer than 15 feet away. All original manuals, even original tax disc holder.

Will need a LOT of work to bring it up to scratch - cambelt change, general service, sort rust on sills and minor oil leak under rocker cover. Bankruptcy looms. This is a classic example of heart ruling head, but should be an interesting on-going project.

By the way, where can I get another TIPEC sticker to put in this motor?

James

Nice little project then. Fastest colour according some mis-guided ones
Dodgy lot in Aylesbury, did you have to negotiate all the double roundabouts that you just close your eyes as you drive across them :? Where all my wife's side of the family are  Even worse they're all gradually moving out and following us down South, I can't seem to get away from them

A project indeed... going to get cambelt and service done first, along with some minor niggles like sticking passenger window. Then am going to have the rust on the sills (hopefully not too major) and on the drivers door ground out and repainted. Its been used as a daily driver and, although serviced regularly, has had nothing else in the way of TLC.

Aylesbury was indeed pretty grim traffic-wise, but their roundabouts are nothing compared to Milton Keynes!

AARRRRGH Don't talk to me about Milton Keynes, nearly had the car taken out several times around there. Last time near the Ikea place!

Good luck with the resto, all part of the fun

The photo was taken after several hours going at it with T-Cut, most of the Meguiars product range and then two coats of Swissvax - sadly, I am unable to polish out the rust (you will notice that is why the picture was taken from a distance!) and no amount of waxing will stop the scarily large clouds of blue smoke which come out the exhaust...

Thanks for the compliment, though!

I went to the PCGB Porsche and Polo today - it was great. Kids loved it too.

Although my comments on the PCGB forum were removed all because i commented about the weather?
I might just lurk around here from now on.
