Le Mans Classic 2010
Hi Folks
I have today spoken with Helen at Travel Destinations (TD) to make some enquiries about next year's event. TD will be our chosen agent to deal with all the travel details as they have huge experience at Le Mans and were faultless in 2008. At present Le Mans have not confirmed details nor costs of campsites and so TD are unable to confirm prices etc.
However TD are working on the assumption that the campsite at Tetre Rouge will be available again and kept for visiting car clubs. Costs in 2008 were from £209 per person depending on crossing type etc but we anticipate some increase due to inflation and the exchange rate change.
That said we get to the important bit:
The campsite only has space for 200 cars/camping pitches and 117 have already been pre-booked. If you want to camp together with the Club you must reserve a slot now by pre-booking with TD. All you need to do is contact TD on 01707 329988 and quote booking reference LMC-10007. Give your name and address to register your interest and you will secure a slot on the campsite.
When details are finalised later TD will contact you and ask you to confirm your booking with a deposit. If you don't you will lose the space.
So registering an interest now will cost nothing and commit you to nothing so don't sit on the fence - get on the phone now or you may miss out.
This is a totally brilliant weekend - a road trip across France to one of the ultimate racing circuits to watch classic racing and admire the thousands of classic cars on show with visiting clubs from across Europe. If you miss it next year you will have to wait until 2012 for another chance!
Any queries please give me a shout
All the best
Paul

Re: Le Mans Classic 2010
Firstly I think we should make this thread a sticky - can somebody sort this please?
Secondly I have contacted TD and been informed that (based on pre-bookings) Tipec are currently the second largest Club grouping for the campsite
There are 23 bookings under the Tipec banner
Only MGOC have more members booked and as they have 35,000 members I don't think we can expect to compete with them
Looks like we're gonna have a good group and a lot of fun but we're gonna need a lot of beer

Re: Le Mans Classic 2010
Yep - I'm booked too. Cruising over with son Mike (although he said he might take his '67 Beetle!! I suggested he should leave a couple of days befre us!)
Paul K has booked as well and I've found out that he has booked my car for parade laps!! How does that work? I'm quietly minding my own business enjoying a beer somewhere track side and my car comes flying past with Keeling at the wheel!! I don't think so...........
Looking forward to the event - thanks for all the work you are doing Mr Bird

Re: Le Mans Classic 2010
Hi Izzy,
I know you told me about the Merc but fancy letting everyone else know!
That's it then, like Paul says, non Porsche drivers buy the beer
Top tip for everyone else, remember to bring with your EHIC which has now superceded the E111 health card upon expiry of the latter

A bit tame that
The place to be is in the main grandstand
Then, not only can you hear the noise but feel it pounding your chest as well
Remember Slade
Magic
Rock on 2010

Re: Le Mans Classic 2010
Booked it last Weds (got Sean's e-mail on Mon) and got a few of my members to as well. I take it that it's all comers because when I rang, they only had 21 places left! Shame - not sure we're going to get TIPEC together with them...
