I've not had the 944 too long, but is my understanding correct that the cooling fan should run on a bit when you switch off the car when hot? If so, mine doesn't, but the fan will often come on as soon as I turn the ignition key to go again.

How would I resolve this?

Thanks

Mine doesn't either, but it's a turbo and the small water pump just for the does run with the ignition off.

Hi,

Doesn't sound like a problem to me. I've found when my S2 gets hot, around half way on temp gauge, the cooling fan kicks in and if parking up will run for an additional 30 seconds or so.

Sometimes if I have parked up and the cooling fan wasn't running, if I put the ignition back on the cooling fan comes on straight away. I can only assume this happens as the temperature must rise in the engine bay when the engine is switched off and the resulting heat build up when the ignition is switched on causes the fan to comes on.

Hope this helps.

Ben :bounce:

Mine seems to go much like yours, Ben, but without the 30 secs after switching off. Problem is, I can't reallt be sure how hot the car is as my temp guage is playing up. Another job to do at some point.

But I am sure I've read somewhere that the fan should run on when required. Anyone else with a view?
