Hi,

I'm picking up my 944 on Saturday & just joined TIPEC. I seem to have done the reverse of most P people, i previously had a very nice 3.2 as a garage queen but got so fed up with trying to find the time to enjoy it with the job, two small children plus the expense of maintaining it.

Now wife is getting the company car and i'm going to be daily driving and enjoying my Porsche! plus (i think!) it handles far better than a 3.2 911 and has power steering, a/c that works etc...

I currently live in Brussels but hope to join some of the events in the UK. Is there any plans for track days at Spa or the Ring? - i've always wanted to drive those and i'm pretty local now, it would be great to join a group of fellow 944's.

Good to be on board.

Graham

Graham, Hi & Welcome  Lovely looking car.

Sorry that user name is unaceptable when you are driving a 944

AFAIK nothing is planned for that area, we did have a Nuremburg & Porsche Museum run planned but I think the recession has meant most of us cannot afford it.

I assume you live outside central Brussels as the city traffic would make any driving horrendous. I may PM you at some point if you wish to meet up as I do Brussels every 2-3 months on business.

As for this comment "plus (i think!) it handles far better than a 3.2 911 and has power steering, a/c that works etc... " Ohh that will get the rear engine brigade excited! Look back we had a similar discussion a few days ago

Hi Jim,

It would be great to meet up, i'm about 10miles outside and fortunately i don't need to drive to the city often. (i'm close to the airport)

I saw the 911 discussion, thats why i pre-fixed that it was my humble opinion... if i wanted to blow 20-30 on a Porsche as a daily driver i would go 996 but then that would upset the aircooled guys etc, etc, blah, blah, not a proper 911.....

Looking forward to the 944 and getting involved with the forum and events.

Graham

Hi Graham,

Welcome to the Club. Nice 944! Is it a Turbo?
My (Thai) wife wishes to visit Europe and she has just got a 6 month visa so there is a chance we will be over there soon.

I sometimes attend 928 Club Netherlands events also.

Stephen
I have a LHD 928 and a RHD 944

Beautiful looking car. Would love to drive the ring & Spa one day. Spa first. But the bills have to stop coming in for the eco car...... It's getting better. £135 for a full service. But now nothing has to drop off for 12 months minimum Just spent a bundle on bodywork.
We need a better exchange rate to make it viable. Which may happen before long as the rest of Europe is in at least as big a mess as us so it seems.

Hi and welcome to the forum. :thumbleft: Nice looking 944 you have there. The 944 makes a great everyday car (I've been doing just that for the last 7 years).....something I think the 911 doesn't do so good. Enjoy!

I'm sure I'll appreciate the way of the eco car once it's on back on the road, hopefully for more than a few miles before it decides it doesn't want to play any more.
