I hate to admit it but I prefer driving the 944 to the 911 :-(

Anyone wanna but a 1987 Targa?

Relax, that's why all the other Beetle drivers try to pretend that the 944s aren't proper Porsches. They know the truth about which ones are really the best cars and just don't want to admit it 8)

Alll the models shine - they are Porsches by god!!!!!
They are thoughbreds and individual.
Each one of our German mistresses is a Valkyrie created to carry its driver to sheer heaven.

The 1987 911 is pretty evil to drive. (I have driven one.) The 944 was better in every respect. Of course Porsche went on to develop the 911. Pity they gave up on the 944-968 so soon. But everybody wanted the 911 shape so that was that. Market forces. What would the 968 succesor be like today had they carried on with it. My 944 is 23 years old. But it's still a better drive than a 2.5 Boxster. In my humble opinion.

Hi All,

Plus Porsche are now thinking of using an Audi 4 cylinder petrol engine (and diesel - god forbid!) in the Boxster and Caymen so they can achieve the next round of emissions levels.

It looks like the 4 cylinder engine is set to make a return on Porsches after all!

Ben :bounce:

audi do a 1.4 turbo engine, imagine that in a boxster/cayman with 123 bhp

They are both very different, a 44 is much easier to drive on the limit. a 911 you have to respect it, but grab it by the scruff on the next.

as above 944 easier to drive generally, and on the limit, whereas a 911 especially pre '89 will bite you if you lapse in concentration for just a second, but that flat six noise

I agree..the 44 is a great car, but sooner or later you have to learn how to drive a 911. its not easy and does require skill.................................................... i am now going to run and hide !!
