Wheel/Tyre swap

Post by nrwilliams »

Hello,

Does anyone know if a set of 911 Fuchs wheels from a 3.2 will bolt straight onto a Early 944?

Or anyone used any different size tyres on the standard 944 rims? Currently running 215/60/15 and need new tyres, have a set of fuchs with good tyres if they fit or was thinking about dropping the profile on the standard tyres as the car is a track car.

Thanks in advance

No I don't but what size are the rims your talking about & what offset are they? (Stamped on the rear if the rim somewhere.) Then someone else will be able to tell you the options! You could try looking on black circles.com for your original tyre size for a start to see if they are still available. :)
944 lux, Eco car. Off the road more than it's on!
Audi 2.0 TDI Good but rather boring..........
944 now sold.

They should swap straight on. Get the dimensions to confirm especially the offset ET measurement. I think 205/60 x 15 was an optional size for the early Teledials.
I think you'll struggle to get a decent tyre in 15" size period.

Theyll fit perfectly as long as the car still has the original ATE brakes. If theyve been updated then the fronts wont fit over the Brembo calipers, as they dont have sufficient backspace.

Not much in the way od W/Y/Z rated tres in 205/60/15 anymore, Pirelli P7 being the main contender at around £90each, drop to V ratings and the choice widens somewhat to about 20 tyres, the Dunlop Sport Fast Response being a good option at around £70

In 215/60/15 you are pretty well stuck with V ratings, but there are a few options such as Kumho KH17, toyo Proxes CF1, firestone F700, Yokohama C Drive and Goodyear Eagle NCT5. Prices £60-£100 fitted.
