My heater control doesn't work! It is either off or full on, no in between. Or the last week with it turned off I seem to be getting warm air from dash. My car is a 944s non aircon,

Clip is OK. I have uncliped the rod and it moves freely. However the motor does seem to move, it makes a noise as if it is working but the arm doesn't move.

Check on the links as to the arm position. The arm should move (not imediatly when you move the control) but when it reaches temprature.

Also check all the vacuum pipes especially around the back of the block.

Do you mean that the fan only runs on 0 and 4? If so it's the thermoswitch on top of the blower that's failed.

Remove the black plastic cover in front of the windscreen and you'll see this screwed in to the top of the blower:

Usually a spray with contact cleaner will do the trick.

If you're getting hot air on the cold setting it will be the clip mentioned. Mine looked fine, it was just not quite holding the metal rod tight enough. These two are less than a pound from a Porsche centre.

A perfectly good temporary fix is to tape the thing up like this, but for a few pence get the proper parts.
